Also next week we will have a decent editorial. In the column this week (with some carryover next week we are featuring a commentary of the 1980 election campaign. The present ability of the Committee to begin to offer its services statewide has been made possible through the direction of Governor Scott, M.- Matheson to develop, this, type of volunteer legal service, i These services are professional legal help to the senior citizens (55 years of age and over) financially unable to hire private practioners. This help is primarily, though not exclusively, geared to representing an elder claimant before a regulatory tribunal, such as a matter before the Social Medicaid, Security Administration, food stamps, etc. To qualifying elderly, the Committee's services . will be without charge.' So if we could start in the center ot the Basin, which would be Roosevelt, that would be a great achievement. I have a suggestion. These young people, along with help from parents and grandparents, should do it themselves. First, they (or we) may have to ask for donations to get it started. But since everyone likes'to do their thing, why not rent a hall and get young people together, say on Saturday. Let them present their sewing, cooking, art, and so many talents from different people until all get their turn, then start over. Another fun thing would be to get an instructor to come in for about an hour and teach all kinds of dances. Then wind up the evening with a record hop, or just listening to records and eating up the food and drink that was present Then, once a month, invite the public to watch with a charge by ticket or donation. And if they bake cakes, I think each should bake a standard cake, then judge for texture, flavor, shape, etc. Then add an icing for the same reasons. Then decoration. Because each judge will judge for their favorite flavor or fruit, etc. One other thing I believe, they should have judges that do not even know tiie families or friends of the contestants, and should not be allowed to talk to townspeople or each other. Just score these girls as numbers. Each judges scores should be put on the board without discussing it with each other. Then after the contest, the scores should all be added to find the . whiner.
