Show THE HEBER CHEEPER FOR TBE owooo acmu oim stiin RISE OF YOUR LIFE SOUD COLOR When you climb aboard the Heber Creeper and wind your way south through rugged mou tains, let your mind wsnder back to the k late 1800s when Butch Cassidy and the Gang rode though shod through Utah, Wyoming and Colorado. Your trip on the Creeper win take more siunificance as you approach Robot Bedfords Sundance Resort. While filming Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Beford developed a keen understanding about Hutch and die Sundance. He learned what it meant to chase puffier beUy trains whose morafol whistles echoed forebodings; he also sensed the high spiritedness of the men. Many of the badmen were, in fact, kids who never grew up or high spirited men whose sense of fun and pranks couldn't be contained by the law. Whatevo the case may be, let your mind wander as you board the Creeper and make sure you hide your watch. How the Creeper got its name no one knows, but the legend is that the narrow twisting canyon made the trip just so slow people began to talk of the train just creeping. From creeping to the Heber Creeper was a logical step. Just as poor roads and slow transportation were the reasons for the success of the train, improvements in highway transportation led to the eventual downfall of the Creeper. In 1967 the train was making less than one trip per week and in 1968 the railroad granted permission to abandon the run. Area residents and railroad fans saw a chance to save a piece of history and a chance to further develop the recreational and tourism potential in the Valley.
