Show lift A .6 VUnited Way & Volunteer Center 2001 free literacy workshop The Community Vblunteer Center and United Way sponsor a for children ages four through twelve each summer The workshops teach basic reading and skills. Children under 6 years are encouraged to recite the alphabet, spell their niames, practice basic writing techniques and reading comprehension; The older students practice reading aloud, comprehension and Familiarizing themselves with the use and procedures of the library. Each day has a learning theme and includes speakers, snacks and plenty of hands on activities. Each year includes a held trip to the CEU Museum, and the Helper Parkway. This year the children who attended on a regular basis were treated with a pizzaswim I' v party at the Desert Wave pool. The workshops are held from June to July three days a week.
