Show PAGE 10 THE ZEPHYROCTOBER 1995 WHAT DOES MOAB THINK? This Month's Question: The State of Utah has proposed to lease three state school trust sections adjacent to or near the Slick Rock Bike Trail. Would you like to see these lands privately developed, or would you prefer to see bike trail fees used to compensate the state? Zeke Francis "I think they should develop it. Anytime the state can make more money than what it does sitting there, they should get all the money they can to help our schools." Bob Castaldo "I would prefer to see the fees used to pay the state. I'd prefer not to see any structures up there or permanent edifices or anything of this nature. If you don't mind, with regards to a previous Question of the Month that I didn't get to respond to, 'What does it all mean,' my opinion is: Duck and Cover. Thank you." Lucy Pedersen "I think that the Slick Rock Bike Trail fees could compensate the state since the bikers use that area the most. As for development, it just doesn't seem like a good place for it." Kari Murphy "I think they should take funds from the Slick Rock fees so that they don't develop the area up there. I want to see the land up there undeveloped." rrr; 'Vfc it 'r Kyle Bailey think that the fees generated by the Slick Rock Bike Trail should be used to lease the state school sections. I don't think the land up there is suited for private development; they don't have the "I infrastructure necessary development available." Norm Shrewsbury "It's premature to lease these lands because there's a variety of lands all over the state. I think a master plan of development to clean up state sections in places like Arches and consolidate them in other areas would better benefit the state. In the interim, the state does deserve some sort of compensation and a percentage of the bike fees would work until a better plan can be developed statewide."
