Show PAGE 17 THE ZEPHYR AUGUST 1994 Nemo Glitz's Popside Review Since early June, when the temperature climbed above 105 degrees and stayed there, I have abandoned my normal junk food diet and adhered to a strict popside regimen. I eat no fewer than ten quiescently frozen confections a day. I eat diem in the morning when I'm in the shower. I have one for breakfast, three for lundi, and by 3PM the desire for a popside is uncontrollable. The sheer numbers of popsides that I consume in a single 24 hour period demands that I add a little variety to die routine. And there is an incredible variety out there in your local grocer's freezer case. Here are some of my favorites: Mow! It comes in orange, cheny, lime, and grape. And only 25 cents. WELCH'S FRUIT JUICE BARS: For those of you who want to "fed good" about eating popsides, these little delights are made with real fruit juice. However, there's still enough sugar to get a buzz. This product does come in a sugar-frevariety as well (sweetened with NutraSweet), but I cannot fairly attest to its taste, Since I abhor artificial sweeteners. DREYER'S LOCO LIME JUICE BARS: These frozen morsels will make you pucker and are mostly pure lime juice and sugar. There has to be some sugar in there or you'd walk around looking like Calvin Coolidge all day. BIG STICK Very tasty but it has a strange consistency to it Not a bad consistency, just it? strange. Come cool off in my sprinkler system." 275 WILLIAMS WAY r 259-827- 4 Ti i THE WINNER GW to true quiescently GREAT WHITE SHARK The best of the best The Great White, frozen confection connoisseurs, this frozen lemon concoction is pure satisfaction. Not only does it provide cold refreshment on a hot summer day, it has a smooth consistency that I have never seen duplicated anywhere. And, as an added bonus, it's actually frozen into the shape of a great white shark. Damn tasty and damn entertaining. Who could ask for more from a frozen treat? I eat three of these daily at Dave's Comer Market Pbprides are our friends remember that They are as American as apple pie (and who wants to eat apple pie when it's 113 degrees?), they keep us cool in the summer, and besides coding us internally, remember this trick I learned from my dd friend Dave Tynes...take a popside twin pop right out of the freezer, and put one under each arm. You will have never felt such relief. It gets a little sticky later on, but far awhile we're talking pure bliss.
