But you have to get the money for It Someone's got to guarantee to pay tor It Now weve been told that the State Department of Transportation Is coming In with $225,000. But I'm not sure In my own mind If that's going to be next year, or In 5 years, or when. So who's going to be paying for It? Zephyr: Do you think the dtv should help nav tor It? Bill: Yes, If we can find the money. For the plaza. Zephyr: What are vour political dans, tor the future? Bill: I'd like to have 30 years of service to the city. I ran well last time, but I had the support of different groups and factions. I dont know how to answer that question. I feel that I have served the city well, that Im honest Yeah, I come from the old families, the old line, but I hope that I'm smart enough to see the new Issues that keep coming up. I'm opinionated, Im pigheaded, I know that But I try to be fair. I'm trying to change with the community. And a lot of my peer group, one of those guys called me Teddy Kennedy today. He said I was always voting with the liberals. That was the vote over the hot tubs. But I thought It was right ' Sometimes I wonder If Im losing my clout And I never had much Influence anyway. Zephyr: In vour years of service, what are the things you are most proud of? Bill: I think Its that Ive spent a lot of time, over many many years, In service. And the number one tiling In life Is service. Over the years, I've spent time making sure we had adequate water and sewers. We have a nice town. Ive helped with the CIB funding, the golf course, the Equestrian center. I was Mayor for 4 years.
