| Show POINT NEW FIND AND TOWN saline ocl 29 the promontory yens Trens Is some forty two miles in length eight miles wide some thirty two miles west vest from ogden and the southern pacific crosses this peninsula on the extreme south no doubt this will be the greatest mineral producing district in utah there is a well defined ore belt extending a distance of 0 some forty miles carrying gold platinum silver copper lead zinc and iron this mining camp is young the first active operation began about march fth with three miners employed about the an additional dit ional three men wey put tal R work april there were nine miners at work and aad about five cars ot of zinc ore i assayed film from ta to 6 44 ier ir cent ceist zinc and lead ore running from 22 to 32 per ier cent were ready for shipment up J p to da date r t beere there has been shipped about seventy cars of zinc and lead ores representing a value of there are about miners employed in the mines and on development work at an average sal salary ry of pr per day making a payroll of about per month there are some eighteen camps established employing from five to thirty men so taking into consideration that in less than eight months this rapid development described took place this district promises to be one of the best in the state there are fifteen established camps in a distance of twelve miles doing development work and in three of these camps they have pay ore on the dump and will be shipping by the first ot of the month at the city of spelter there are two boarding houses lio uses one conducted by sirs mrs E N carlquist with her assistant who lias has an average of thirty live boarders daily with an able and competent young lady to serve meals in cafeterias cafe terian style 11 II S anderson has about fifty boarders and thru ills his able management gives good meals at a reasonable cost and Is becoming noted in tile hotel business this promises to be a little city as it is located near the lake vi view ew alining companas compan comp anys s properties 1 I am advisedly advis advised edby by b D J an or of the promontory bay company there is a being located some nine miles north from saline near the squaw springs ranch to be known as bay city it Is a beautiful townsite as there is plenty of good spring water this promises to be the largest commercial and business city on the promontory as sections 31 19 and 20 are near this city where the largest larger A deposits deli of ore are bing discovered I 1 am advised by the southern pacific railroad officials that active operation e is in process in the erection of a modern freight station and a telegraph raPh office and station at saline tor for passengers which will be pushed rapidly ta to completion A postoffice post office or rural route has been applied for or thru representative joseph howell and the matter has been taken up with the federal post postoffice office department and joseph knudson recently nt received a plat with lisas ns to io outline thi this s rural route with other papers as to the procedure in getting a rural route or post postoffice office lico and no doubt the po postmaster st master gener general at in the near future will send an ollic jal out to this district to investigate as to tile the advisability of ii a rural route or posto pos tonice frice ogden examiner |
