The family of Leah Benson her 80th birthday Saturday with a family dinner at the Juniper restaurant Leah was born March 1 1 1922 in Newton Utah the daughter of Emory and Ella Benson She was the fourth of six children She was raised in Newton where she attended Newton Elementary and then graduated from North Cache High School in 1940 Some of her high school friends may remember her as “Benny” As a young girl Leah loved to dance She danced all over Idaho and Utah and during her school years won several dance competitions Leah married Harmon Johnson Sept 17 1940 in the Logan Temple They are the parents of Alan Clair Mary Lee Warren and Linnea Earl They lived in Newton Ovid Idaho Benson Amalga and the last 56 years in Smithfield where they raised their family )nOct 23 1987 Harmon was sadly killed in an autopedestrian accident Leah loves life Many of the Smithfield residents wUl see her walking all over town She ’ takes a different route'every day so she can see what’s going on in the neighborhood She loves to travel She has been to Guatamala die Hawaiian Islands Branson a Mexican Cruise California and many other states to see Leah and her friend are known by many as “recycled teenagers" If there is a show in town or in any town they will be there She loves being a grandma and spending time with her family She has 12 grandchil- dren and 16 She tries to attend as many events as she can that her family is involved in To ' her family she is known as “Roller Coaster Grandma" and “Blizzard" Leah is the we youngest know Leah is a GREAT cook and enjoys sewing quilting and working in her yard She grbws a large garden that she shares with family and friends and has a beautiful yard She was once recognized by Smithfifcld City as having one of the nicest yards and garden in town Leah has JC Penney Penney Saver American Pood Store Gepharts and was the manag-era the Fashion Shop arid fee manager of fee Fabric i As a member of fee I church Leah has held many church positions during her d ’ her-famil- y : - Chadwick’s 80th Wooley’s95th Johnson’s 80th Johnson-celebrate- Max Chadwick JWbdey Max Chadwick was bom in his family’s home on March 8 1922 in North Ogden Utah to Louis Samuel Chadwick and Myrtle Warren He was die youngest of ' three children Carl Louis ' Chadwick and Erma Parkes Both are deceased When Max was two and a half years old his father was killed in an accident leaving the family to care for themselves When Carl and Max were old enough they cared for the family orchard raising peaches cherries and apricots This continued until they were adults He attended school at North Ogden Elementary Weber High School and Weber College During this time W worked at the American Can Co and the Royal Canning Co Max married Betty June Fullmer in the Salt LDS 21 1942 on Temple May When WWII started W joined the Marine Corps wife the 4th Marine Division He made D-Day landings on the Marshall Islands Saipan Haitian and Iwo Jima where he witnessed the famous flag raising on Mount Su His outfit was training for the invasion of Japan when the atomic bomb was dropped ending fee war He was honorably in 1945 He moved to Logan in 1950 where he worked for Cream O Weber Dairy distributing for 12 years There were five sons bom by 1954: Mike Craig Robert David and James He moved his family to Nampa Idaho in 1962 He and his wife divorced and he moved back to Logan He worked at various jobs including waking at Hill Field as a supply inspector until he retired in 1977 He married Nadine Morten-so- n Sant or Nov: 18 1979 and moved to Nibley where they reside today Max loved hunting fishing and raising hones He has a green thumb when it comes to gardening He loves playing his organ He spends many hours in his shop sharing his talents wife many relatives and friends He is a high priest in fee Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints andhas held various positions in fee ' Blanche J Wooley celebrated her 95th birthday with her children grandchildren and friends on Saturday March 9 2002 at tfie 13th Ward in Logan Utah Blanche was bom March 13 1907 in Meadowville Utah She was the eighth and youngest child bom to Rastus Peter Justensen and Clara Mena Mousley Blanche grew up and remained close friends wife her sister Mary who was 1 12 years older Mary passed away in May 2001 at age 96 These little girls were adored by their older brothers Bill and Russ who also lived into their middle 90s Blanche married Fearel Lars Woolsey of Mount Pleasant Utah on June 17 1925 in Manti Utah They were later sealed in the Logan Temple They lived ip Moroni Utah from 1925 until 1931 where their daughters Madge and Carol were bora In 1931 they moved to Lehi Utah were their daughter Nonna was bom In 1937 they moved to’ Mount Pleasant where they lived until 1941 When they moved to Logan where Fearel had secured employment at fee Utah State Agriculture College (Utah State University) He winked off and on there until the time " of his passing in OcLi 1966 Their two sons Dennis and Steven were bom in Logan Blanche worked at Bushnell Veterans Hospital in Brigham City helping young soldiers who had been wounded during World War fi She had many friends who came to visit her She cooked a fish (me time and took it to a young patient from fee South who missed “home cooking” She also worked at the Budge Hospital as a nurse's aide She loved working in fee nursery wife fee newborns She still remembers which babies were fee smallest largest and largest twins bam there Blanche is a member of fee Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and has held several teaching positions including teaching the chil- dren Blanche has five children Carol and (Artie) Henderson of Bountiful Utah Norma W of Logan Dennis and (Sheila) Woolsey of Kearns Utah and Steven and (Janet) Woolsey of Logan Herdaughter Madge B Git-tens of Great Falls Mont passed away in Dec 2000 Blanche also has a posterity of 17 grandchildren' 50 great- ' grandchildren and 16 great-- ’ ) -
