Show W republican PLATFORM fo lowing Is the platform adopted 1 by the republicans 0 utah at the state convention held in salt aake city august 25 1904 the republicans of utah voicing W their pride and satisfaction in the party ot I 1 lincoln ot grant and of j kinley its illustrious leaders and pa w renew their fidelity to its prin caples and declare their approval of its policies these poll d cles lifted the country from the slough of democratic disaster into which 11 was plunged irom 1893 to 1897 and they have every man woman and child in this great republic we look with heartfelt satisfaction I 1 i upon the achievements ot this great party of the patriotic people the party which has always insisted that every t man rich or poor white or black must be equal before the law and i that americans must be always the object of its especial care and krotec alon both at home and abroad we most emphatically indorse the i platform adopted by the republican national convention at chicago this year commending it to the voters of this state as at once a record of illus arious achievement a forceful presen of beneficial and undying prin caples a pledge of prosperity and ad van cement an assurance ot the high standing of this nation throughout the world and a recital of enormous ben befits to the people we gladly reaffirm that platform and make it our own by adoption we support with whale hearted en thusia sm the nominations mado by that convention as worthy successors of the illustrious statesmen whom the republican part has hitherto put in nomination for the great national ot flees of this country and we pledge our undivided fealty to theodore roosebelt Roose and charles W s determining to give them a majority in next november that be a satis faction tp them and a joy to us we rejoice in the immeasurable benefits conferred upon our country through the good management of republican administrations and we view with especial appreciation the asplen did measures established for the crecli mation of the arid lands through tha enactment of the national irrigation law a wise an 1 statesmanlike enact ment which will fix high in the niche of fame the name of the man and pres ident through whose efforts it was speeded in its passage and by reason of which efforts it can justly be called the law republicanism the glory of the na alon that it saved which has mada this country a world power has car ried freedom and self respect to mil lions of downtrodden people in the west indies and in the philippines has made this nation respected and deferred to as it never was before has made this republic the foremost nation ot the world that in every delicate question of international right and usage the united states li first consulted and its initiative sought and gladly followed is the pride of hu inanity it Is the living force of tree flom and of nationality and good as it is for the people at large it Is equally good for the people of utah rejoicing in the firm and admirable establishment or state government in utah by cans in the wise measures enacted for the orderly car crying on of public affairs in the happiness and prosperity of the people under that government in the thor ough ness as well as the economy jt the state administration tree from all taint or suspicion of wrongdoing we show to the people a clean balance sheet which invites their confidence assures them that republican admin Is what they want for their future as it has been so praiseworthy h and so much to their benefit in the past they might do worse but can never do better than to continue their confidence which has never been mis placed in the party of patriotism the party that does things the party that never shirl s or dodges the party that always comes out in the open and says plainly what it means the grand old republican party this confidence to be manifested in strenuous and un ceasing work for the whole of its ticket to the and that the ath day of november next may close upon a splendid republican victory all along the line the republican party always et facts results it has no deadlocks that prevent it taking action it recalls the reproach to the state which came upon it through the democratic failure to elect a senator when there was a democratic legislature that should have performed that duty it firmly its legislative nominees to the performance of their rightful function in thia behalf in case a republican legislature Is chosen in november next the republican legislators are hereby pledged to go into caucus and nominate a candidate and the of the votes in that caucus must decisive in con rolling the action of every republican in the legislature tor united states senator we favor the establishing of a state park covering the northwestern part ot the uintah reservation and request of representatives in congress to usa their best endeavors to accomplish that purpose |
