NOVEL WAY TO CATCH PUMAS gummy leaves cause downfall of beast of prey about miles up the amazon there Is a trebe of indians who are expert hunters of big game they have a remarkable way of capturing puma A oung pig or goat is tied to a tree before night for yards around this tree the indians scatter leaves covered with a preparation made from the sap of the gum tree when night comes the puma crawls up to the bait and devours it hav ing finished he discovers that his paws are covered with leaves he tries to rub them off with h s nose and they stick all over his face then in des aeration pe ration he rolls about and becomes literally cal ed in the gummy leaves about this time the natives charge with torches and ropes and the puma is so helpless and blind that he can make no serious resistance then he Is earned alive to the village
