cost of peterson case special to the reporter by county clerk W G andrews nepi utah apil ath now that the peterson murder trial is over it may be timely to consider tl e casta matter that was not considered by the court when the trans life was at stake ss every witness both for and against the defendant was brought at the expense of the state all that he attorneys for the defence had to do was to file an affa affi davit that such and such a witness was needed and the court ordered him or her brought without delay there were 43 witnesses bi ought who testified for or against the defendant at at a total expense of 1210 60 there were 49 u ors summoned from which to select the jury at a total ex pense of 70 ahe case lasted 19 days and dur ng that time the furors were beat together and were boarded by he county a an expense of the bedding etc cost 56 making ca so the grand total cost is 2432 30 this amount of course does not include light fuel bailiffs and a hundred othel things that are required in such cases ve may atela say that th e cost of th s one case is 2500 and atthe same rate the expense of both cases should the other come up for trial would be about
