Show City Council il Canvasses Municipal Vote Tallies The Ephraim City Council Monday night made a canvass of ot the vote returns recorded last Tuesday N Nov ov In the election which picked a mayor said and d two councilman for four four- year terms Two errors were discovered in the final vote tally In District District District Dis Dis- Two Iwo the tally sheet showed votes for Vertis Nielson Instead of ot the reported In District 3 Clayton Peterson received 99 ballots instead of ot the reported It was felt by the council that the two errors cancelled each other so the total votes for tor each remained the same samp Bruce Bean and Max Mix Aycock were in attendance at the meetIng meetIng meeting meet- meet Ing to Investigate the possibilities possibilities of ot extending power water water wa wa- ter sewer streets curb and gutter and discuss problems connected with building beyond present facilities A motion was made by CouncIlman Councilman Councilman Coun Coun- cilman Clayton Peterson that the council meet as a com com- and study problems and possibilities of extending utilities utilities util util- lUes and services mentioned above They will offer basic recommendations at the next regular council meeting Nov 24 This motion was seconded by Councilman ZabrIskie with the motion accepted Councilman Peterson will act as chairman of ot the committee The meeting was scheduled to be held Immediate Immediately ly after the special meeting Is adjourned on Wednesday eve eve- ning A motion had been made by Councilman Bob Stoddard and seconded by Councilman Bud Sanders that a special meeting be called for Wednesday Nov 12 at 7 to discuss the power survey which Call Engineering Engineer Engineer- ing has just finished The newly elected mayor and councIlmen were also Invited The motion carried Councilman Sanders also re reported reported reported re- re ported that he has received se several veral applications for tor the post of ot manager of ot the Ephraim Swimming Pool to replace Cliff cUtt Stubbs who vacated the tM post the first of November He said that they are all being considered carefully and a decision will willbe willbe be made soon Councilman Zabriskie re reported reported reported re- re ported that the water department department department depart depart- ment truck will no longer run and that cost of ot repairs are more than the truck Is worth He requested the use of the red pickup until a replacement can be obtained It was suggested suggested suggested sug sug- that various dealers be contacted for tor quotes on used V 8 or V 6 short wheel base wheel 4 drive truck It was also proposed that bids be obtained ob obtained obtained ob- ob on new vehicles of ot the same type This was made Into the form of ot a motion by CouncIlman Councilman Councilman Coun Coun- cilman Richard Olson seconded second second- ed by Councilman Zabriskie with the council accepting It by bya a unanimous vote Councilman Zabriskie noted that a backhoe e Is needed to install sewer and water to the new city garage He noted that the major major part of ot the building buildIng building build build- ing will then be completed Councilman Clayton Peterson reported that curb and gutter and sidewalk are finished on First South by the college dorms Curb and gutter on both sides of Second South from Main Maln Street to First West with sidewalk on the south side have been completed and curb and gutter on the west side of ot First East between Second and Third North around the comer corner and west one fourth of ot a block is almost completed A report given by Councilman Richard Olson noted that a letter has been written to Ross B. B Elliott of the Bureau of ot Outdoor Outdoor Outdoor Out Out- door Recreation requesting a meeting to help decide on a site for development of ofa a multipurpose multipurpose multi multi- purpose park The cleanup for the old mill was discussed by the council Councilman Olson was assigned the responsibility of ot getting it done before snowfall |
