Show Page 2 1 Wednesday, October 30, COALITION COALITION COMMSHfP LETS CLEAN UP OUR ACT Contained in this issue of the Coalition is a letter from Mr. Engolf Deros, owner and operator of the Summit Valley Sanitation Company. Mr. Deros registers some very valid complaints concerning the problems entailed in the removal of garbage. The word garbage is one of those elements of the English language which automatically evokes some type of emotional mental response when heard or read. The word is often employed in a humorous vein or to arouse disgust. Park Citys garbage problem is not funny but it is often times disgusting. Garbage is a fact of life. Almost everything we use results in some type of waste. Mr. Deros occupation happens to deal with the removal of these wastes. It is a necessary job and it is a service to the community. Mr. Deros performs his job extremely well. When compared to similar service performed in other cities, his dependability, competence, and dedication rate high. Why make things hard for him? Hes not trying to prove anything, hes just trying to help you as an individual and the community as a whole, while earning a living. Garbage is not meant to be a lawn display. If God wanted to decorate the grass with garbage, hed have it growing wild. Garbage is not supposed to be the object of a scavenger hunt. If it were proper to strew refuse about, hardware stores wouldnt sell garbage cans. Garbage should be placed in a container and covered securely. Once garbage is contained and covered it should be placed in a spot easily accessably to the person who collects it. Your front porch is not usually the most convenient place for the sanitation man; it might be for you, but not for him. Multiply those few steps you save by the hundreds of houses he has to service and the result is considerable. By saving your garbage man some time, you will save yourself some money in the long run. Wages are based on time and energy spent. Prices are directly affected by wages. Less time and energy mean lower sanitation rates for you. It seems to me that some of kindest and most generous acts by members or groups in this community have gone unnoticed by the general population. There are a number of people in this town that volunteer their services without a thought for recognition or monetary reward. Since the beginning of the summer when I began working in a community with program dealing recreational services, I have encountered many wonderful s with this type of person or organization. It has been a pleasure to receive so much help from so many truly concerned individuals. I run-in- would like to publicize this list of some of the people that have offered so much but asked for nothing in return: Mr. Mrs. Ed Hosenfeld of the Chateau A pres Lodge who donated the use of their swimming pool so that the Recreation Program could conduct swimming lessons throughout the summer. & Carter Dreyfuss who structed art twice a week for 24 months this past summer. in- Artistic expression was offered free to all school age children during Aside from these considerations and the others presented by Mr. Deros, a little civic responsiblity should motivate us to facilitate garbage removal. Garbage collection is an arduous task at best. When compounded by the laziness and-o- r negligence of citizens, it becomes almost impossible to perform the job satisfactorily. The result is a town that is less than clean and less than desirable to inhabit. Park Citys age, history, and construction all contribute to its charm but unfortunately they also contribute to a tendency towards unsightliness in respect to refuse. This circumstance requires a little extra effort on everyones part. Why not strive to contribute, not Bus Depot Approved AN OPEN LETTER the Carters program. Cest Bun Parking Dispute The most heated debate of the night centered on parking facilities at the C'est Bon Hotel. The Planning Commission had previously approved a conditional use permit fa the Park City Athletic Club", to be operated in the Cest Bon by Mr. Ed Rodgers, with the stipulation that adequate parking be verified.
