Show THE Wednesday, October 23, 1974 MRK CITY cum rage 2 Robert Fleck Appointed COALITION COMMENTS EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR HEADS UP Lets face facts, the Park City High School football team is not enjoying one of its more successful seasons. The squads zero point total in league play and the corresponding absence of victories to date force most of us to brand the Miners as losers. But to paraphrase an old adage, Winning is in the eye of the beholder. To be sure, Park Citys football futility has spawned criticism from local sports fans. This newspaper has not been hesitant1 to print less than flattering comments on a less than rewarding campaign. If we cannot congratulate our Miners fa gridiron supremacy, let us commend them for athletic perseverance. Its not easy to offer yourself to possible physical injury and probable hu initiation every week. It must be true love of the sport which prompts these young men to seek that elusive victory each week. Playing for a winner is easy, ' fighting for a loser takes courage. So Miners keep your heads up and your hearts strong. You are gaining valuable experience in athletics and life. Remember, everything is relative; todays losses make the taste of tomorrows victories that much sweeter. HEADS UP CLEAN UP To some of us, six oclock in the morning is a disgusting hour of the day; a good time to get home, perhaps, but a horrible time to wake up. Yet for approximately twenty Park City residents, 6 AM was not as disgusting as the dirt and rubbish which have become an integral part of Main Street. On Saturday, October 19th, early birds and disoriented night owls flocked to the Eating Establishment before the sun had a chance to peak over the mountains. Their intent was an assault on the inaminate undesirables of Main Street. Armed with shovels and brooms, fortified with Smittys coffee and donuts, and lead by General Stronger Than Dirt Price, these nadir raiders brushed and scraped a path of cleanliness the entire length of our most prominent thoroughfare. The efforts of these volunteers is commendable but the job is not finished. Another cleanup will be held this Saturday. SIGNUP The November 5th election is fast approaching and October 29th is the last date for registering to vote in Park City. Those of you who are not registered should take heed. Voting is the right and responsibility of every American citizen, etc., etc you hear it all the time, right? Well, stop and think about it. Voting is what Park City, the state of Utah, the United States of America, and the principle of democracy are all about. To steal from Voltaire, this is not the best of all possible worlds but it certainly is not going to improve with age if you and I neglect to express our opinions by means of the ballot box. If you do not appreciate the past efforts of the incumbent, vote for his opponent. If you like the way he does business, support him. If you are not too crazy over any of the choices, do some research and pick the one which repulses you the least. At any rate, make your presence known. If you do not register, you cannot vote. If you cannot vote, you are not helping anyone, including yourself. n m CLEAN UP GPCC To Assume Management of Silver King Lodge Final arrangements are being made for the sale of the Silver King Lodge in Park City to new owners, who will have Greater Paris City Company operate the facility under a long term management agreement.
