Mrs. Lehmer thinks many of our citys problems stem from past Planning Commissions which suffered from a lack of guidance. She cited Mr. Gerald Turner, former City Attorney, as a major causative factor. Another source of trouble is what she calls the City Councils tendency to "knuckle under. Mrs. Lehmer says, Whats considered right today is ignored tomorrow. As an example, she recalls a buffer zone for the approach to the city which was agreed upon by the Master Plan Committee. Its purpose was to prevent a tunnel entrance to town but she says this provision fell by the wayside when the big money of the Holiday Inn arrived on the scene. The lifting of the building moratorium was also a mistake in the opinion of Mrs. Lehmer. She states the city is not in a position to accurately assess the impact of proposed building. She has been the target of depreciating letters to the editor as well as being cited as the major reason for the resignation of Mayor Price. When asked to respond to the charges which have been made and the labels which have been pinned on her, the Councilman replied The accusations resident of Park City and therefore not qualified to serve on the City Council. The resolution of this controversy is scheduled to take place in the Coalville Court House where a declaratory judgment is to be made. She responds that she harbors no personal grudge against the Greater Park City Company." She does state, however, that the Resort is, and will continue to be, responsible for the majority of the population growth of Park City and it is her intention to insure that GPCC pays the public service costs which are brought to bear upon the community as a result of this growth. Mrs. Lehmer feels GPCC, in sur- prising. I had a great deal of respect for John Price and I was disappointed and disillusioned. Mr. Prices statements were in poor taste she said, and she added her first inclination was also to resign. Also relating to the special edition, Mrs. Lehmer wished to clarify comments attributed to her concerning Mr. Jan Peterson. r is what Price termed her "vendetta special edition of the Coaltion on June 15th, Mrs. Lehmer charac- terized the attack as recurring complaint against Mrs. Lehmer I ot density survey has not been conducted and therefore the city cannot , at this time, determine acceptable densities for specific areas, she says. It is not her intention to prevent building, Mrs. Lehmer stated, but rather, it is her desire to see that proper procedures are followed and that the law is ap- plied equally to everyone, regardless of affiliation or of financial status. Theriot Spring A focal point of controversy between Mrs. Lehmer and Mayor Price was the Theriot Spring Water Agreement The Councilman summarized her aversion to the proposal by stating, My overall objection was that I didnt like the bit by bit bargaining being employed by the Resort. I wanted all the Park City - GPCC commitments resolved at one time. Not Optimistic Mrs. Lehmer was asked to provide some type of prediction as to the future of Park City and its ability to successfully contend with the projected growth. She responded, I dont have a very optimistic outlook. The city has been so lax for so long that people think the town is already ruined, so why bother. Based on the observations and commentary of Councilman Lehmer, it seems it is her motives rather than her actions which she feels have been maligned. Her evaluation of the foresight demonstrated by city government in regard to the path of expansion being pursued by the town appears to be condensed in one of her closing comments, When are we going to wake up? |
