Show Wednesday, My PARK CITY 17, 1974 LETTER July 10, 1974 Park City Coalition Park City, Utah 84060 Your slip is showing...in the July 10 issue you welcomed the National Mortar Board to the Resort condos from July 13 to 15. Im sure the Resort wouldnt mind having the group, but actually Treasure Mountain Inn will host the group July 12 thru 17 accommodations and meetings. There is enough confusion already with the Treasure Mountain INN and Treasure Mountain VILLAGE. I wouldnt want any of our Mortar Board guests to end up at the wrong place because they were misinformed by the Coalition I also noted that Bob Fieck of the Purple Mushroom will be opening a shop in the commercial area of Treasure Mountain Inn. This is very interesting to us since no space for the area has been leased to anyone as of this date. Perhaps Mr. Fleck is being optimistic... Connie Fisher, Manager Treasure Mountain Inn and Secretary-Treasur- SDROB First step get on the agenda Editor: for TO THE er Treasure Mountain Inn Holding, Co., Inc. (Owners of Commercial Area TMI) July 10, 1974 Park City Coalition Park City, Utah 84060 Dear Editor: December 1972 was the first we saw or heard of Park City. Quite by chance, we stopped to look as we were headed for Sun Valley. Having visited Vail, .Aspen, Snowmass, 'and several ' other resorts enroute, we were very impressed with Park City and its possibilities. After a month in the old baseball field, living in a camper, we determined to stay and finally found a place to live. A duplex with an adjacent building lot. Now, on the survey of the lots, there was a dedicated road directly in front of the house and an existing road cutting die lots in half behind the house. After quite a little thought, we came up with a plan which we thought would be mutually beneficial to us and the City: To trade the ground behind the house for the land in front of the house. Our benefit, a bigger building lot the Citys benefit, a cost-fre- e way to improve an inadequate road. Simple? No way! Pages for City Council, not an easy matter in Summer of 73. Made it on the agenda in August 73. When we heard our name, we got up from the sink in the other room, walked down the hall and into the room to hear Mary say I move we table this for further study by the streets committee. Thanks Mary, hello Clem. We looked to Gem, who said, Til get in touch with you. Two weeks later, we called Clem, and he finally made it. Clem and I talked for better than one hour that time, looked at the map I had drawn, and it still rings in my ears as he said, I dont see why not. Ill let you know. Well, winter came and left and spring did, too. Onto to the June 74 City Council meeting. It was a biggie, since the Mayor got fed up the week before and said what was on his mind. Anyway, 15 minutes before the meeting, Gem taps me on the shoulder and says, Gee, I just havent had time to do this. Im going to have to get together with you again to go over it. Now, some people think 10 months is a long time and Im one of them. In the meeting, our name comes up, Clem reports he hasnt had enough time; I ask how much longer he needs no answer. I am referred to Carl Nemelka who takes me aside and explains that the Council has several other people who have contacted the Council in regards to dedicated City property that they have no plans for, and that if they make a decision on our land, they might have to for someone else. Now, somewhere along the line, I got the misguided idea that the City Council was there to decide matters that pertain to the City. Wrong! .Their position seems to be to find some petty little reason to table everything that comes up so no one else will get any ideas. I caught Gem on the way out saying, When would you like to get together? Well, Im going to be busy Fridayso Ill call you Friday night to get together Saturday. Friday night came and went, so Saturday morning I drove over to X Clems house to find that he went fishing for the day. Ten days later, we caught Clem at Gty Hall (in the Hall), only to hear what was said by Carl earlier that if they make one decision, they might have to make more. And so Park Gty and the good people who are left, a lot have already gone, we wish you luck in the future, for we are going to continue our journey first to Sun Valley and then? Anyone want to buy a duplex? REATA NOW OPEN 84 S. MAIN HEBER CITY Tom and Linda Averill July 654-305- 3 13, 1974 Mr. Kerry Bolton, Editor Park City Coalition Park City, Utah 84060 Dear Kerry, Up front, thank y tender for the ADK conference article in your issue of this week. Just great, laddie, just great. And all the schoolteacher types were pleased, too. We made a few points for our town and thats what its all about, aint it? Yessir, I thank you. I sincerely hope that the atscrib Thank you tached reaches you before the deadline for the next edition is kickin you right in the teeth. I know itll be close, but I hope we make it. Perhaps Im asking too much after this weeks fine effort in the Coalition. But the success of the convention was largely due to the help of a large number of Park City people, and they deserve some kudos. Id like to see them get recognition through your columns where everybody can read about it. I know the ding-don- g article is a longee, but I believe it will be read with interest by most Parkites, and a few other dudes, too. wWe always hear complaints when things go haywire I think we oughta hear when things go right too. Sorry that I couldnt get it to you sooner, but this is my first day at home since the shindig, and I had no way to unbuckle a typewriter until now.
