Show THURSDAY, CORNISH CORNER Marriages LORRIE ELDER-LYNHARDMAN Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Elder, Logan is pleased to announce the marriage of their neice, tone Elder, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Kay E. Elder, to Lynn Hardman, Smithfield, son of Mr. and Mrs Harvey P. Hardman, Providence. Hie couple were married Dec. 19, 1977 in the Salt Lake LDS Ttanpie. A reception was held that evening from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. in the Faculty Lounge at Utah State University Center. Friends and relatives were invited to attend-Bridshowers were given by Julie Brocken and Sherri Fullmer. Lorrie is attending Logan High School where she is now a senior. Lynn is a 1974 graduate of Sky View High School and is presently employed at Grand Central in Logan. Following a short honeymoon they will be at home in their apartment on third East in Smithfield. E8PLIN Mr. and Mrs. W.R. (Bud) Moser, Logan, wish to annouce the marriage of their daughter, Jo Ann to Gary K. Esplin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Angus Esplin, Smithfield, on Nov. 18, 1977. They were united in marriage at the home of the brides parents by Bishop Noble Erickson of the Smithfield Fourth LDS Ward. A short honeymoon followed. An open house was held in their honor in the Smithfield Fourth Ward, 189 North 1st East, Friday, Dec. 16 from 7 to 9 p.m. Friends and relatives attended. In the line up were Beulah and Angus Esplin, the grooms parents; Lyle Esplin, 'best man and brother of the groom; the bride and groom, Jo Ann and Gary Esplin; Diane Esplin, maid of honor; Lynn Esplin, usher and brother of the groom and Beth Ann Esplin, Lynn's wife, guest book. Cousins served. The young couple are at home at their hone in Summit Park. ' Gary is presently employed at Wurlit-ser-s and Jo Ann is a student at Logan High. They were married Dec. - eXIie ByEVELENE MOODY Carol and Tom Watkins and daughter Judy, 11, arrived home in Smithfield after a year in San Antonio, Texas, where Tom was employed at Northrup Air Craft The Watkins spent two years in Saudi Arabia prior to their stay in Texas. He taught math in that country to Americans. They spent five weeks touring Europe before they arrived in Saudi Arabia. Carol said Saudi Arabia was "a delightful experience." Judy attended school at both places. On their way home from Saudi Arabia they toured the rest of the way around the world, spending one week in Bangkok, Thailand; one day in Pakistan; saw Hong Kong; in Korea spent four days with their son, Brian who was on an LDS Mission there where they had a feast with the branch president and they talked at the Korean LDS sacrament meet ing; stayed, in a Korean hotel, slept oh a mat, went to the community bath (men and women are separate); flew to Tokyo, Japan, then to Anchorage, Alaska. They visited friends, Frank and Elaine Hicks and went to Mount McKinley. After one week, they flew Portland, Oregon, and spent a week with their sot, tok Watkins and Vickie and Mike family. They stopped by Smithfield and their home where a son, Stan and his wife, Cheryl Watkins were living, then flew to San Antonia They are happy to be home and Tom has retired but still keeps busy. in the Oakland Jessica is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. Rojas, Turlock, Calif, and Jerrys parents are Mr. and Mrs. Leon M. Michael Hill, Smithfield. drove to Salt Lake City Friday to see the lights mi Temple Square and visited their son and wife, Gerri and Spencer Hamilton. They attended their five-yea- r old granddaughters, Mary Ellens birthday. They visited Alices sister, Edith Romoney and their own son, Brent Hamilton before returning home. Sunday they enjoyed the at USU. Elder Robert Frank Con-dism of Betty and Frank Condie, Smithfield, is home e, from his LDS Mission to Nevada. He spoke to the High Council Sunday. He is a sophomore at Weber State College and is studying engineering. Stan and Cheryl Watkins have moved from Smithfield to Logan where Stan is attending USU and studying for his masters in business management Arlene and Boyd Calder-woo- d have sold their home in Smithfield and have moved to Palatial Living in Logan. The Sixth Ward Relief Society held a day of Show and Tell on food items, gingerbread houses and recipes for other foods as candy, etc. Copies of stories, etc. were also brought and shared. A demonstration on tricot underwear was given. Janet Binggeli sang a solo, Oh, Holy Night" Elder Brian Watkins returned home from a two year LDS mission to Korea. He is now employed by Del Monte and plans on attending USU in the fall. He is the sm of Carol and Tom Sadie and Elder spent three weeks in Portland, Oregon, at their daughter's, Louise and Jack Hampton, Smithfield, drove to Borrego Springs, Calif., where they visited friends, lone and Joe Ellis, former residents of Logan. While there they played golf, went swimming and basked in the sun. Thursday Richmond evening the community Christmas party was held in the Richmond Stake Center. The Park School children sang several Christmas songs; violin students played their instruments; Colleen and Brenda played the marimba and piano, playing a medley of Christmas songs. Everyone, about 300, was served doughnuts and punch by the Lions club, reports Reed Woodland, President. President Hannah Zurcher conducted the Smithfield Eighth Ward Primary Christmas party. The Primary children gve the program, interpreting each of the letters of CHRISTMAS and sang carols. The Bishopric passed out y treats, apples and suckers. There were about all-da- 250 present The children built the nativity scene characters as the letters were interpreted. A little three-year-ochild presented the Christ child with gifts, such as patience, etc. The Second Ward held a High Priest's Christmas party for all High Priests ld and their wives and the widows of High Priests. A musical program by a male quartet from the choir performed, with Hoble Chambers as chairman. A roast beef dinner was prepared with Roma and Clinton Lou in charge and served to 80. Tables were decorated Juana and Clair Spohn and daughter, Lisa and Valeen and Max Bradley and son, Todd also visited their mar- ried children. They saw some theater production shows, toured the country up the mountain sides. A daughter, Cindy Coppel and son, Chad, of Tempe, Arts., came home to visit her mother, Ella Mae Julson, in Smithfield and to attend the wedding of her brother, Dee Julson to Roberta Drury, Lewiston. Cindy also visited Lona Stoddard and husband Gene in Rexburg, Idaho. She also shopped and visit- 1 1 tour Ogden, Salt Lake Senior Citizens from Cache county, some 60 men and women, took three mini buses. Some the first night the rest the next night, using two mini buses, attending the Festival of Trees at the Salt Palace in Salt Lake City, after seeing the hundreds of decorated trees they- then Ogden and viewed the trees and decorations. It was announced, Christmas dinner will be held at the center at 12 noon, Dec. 23. Reservations of 24 hours are requested. Hie Cornish Ward Relief Society held its annual Christmas dinner and entertainment on Dec. 10 at 7:30 p m. in the cultural hall. Dinner consisted of ham, scalloped potatoes, jello and fruit salad, rolls and relishes and a variety of pies. A particularly beautiful musical program followed dinner, planned by Avis Myler, Relief Society secretary; Ella Maughan and Earl Ottley accompanied by Linda Rasmussen at the piano presented a number of sacred works in music and song. Following meeting the choir was invited to the home of Renae and Ray Jorgensen for a Christmas luncheon. The church was decorated with several poinsettias for the Christmas theme.
