Janines parents are Vera and Fred Jensen, Magna and Davids are Lois and Clarence Ervin in Hunter. David is production manager of the Lundall Astro Curets, Logan. They like camping and sightseeing. Janine loves to work with ceramics. Rosella Thornley flew to Heywood, Calif., to visit her sister, Mary Crocket and her brother and wife, Marjorie and Richard Nelson at Free-mon- t. bv Eveleae Moody Brent is manager of the Firestone Store at Boise. The young Daileys have a son, Brian, 6. . They all drove to Ontario, Ore., where Brent had to check on a Firestone Store. It was 60 miles from Boise. The Don Daileys stayed the weekend. Leon and Jeanne Beutler and son, Paul, Smithfleld, and another son and his wife, Susan and Brad Beutler, Salt Lake City drove to Anaheim, The Sky View High School band with director, John Manning, assisted by Kent Poulson and the Sand Ridge Junior High School band directed by Sheri Manning, combined with the Southern Utah State College Band, director Dr. Steve Allen, to present a concert in memory of Johns father and Shots grandfather, William H. Manning in Cedar City. At the end of the concert, the Sky View band and Sand Ridge were presented a citation of excellence plaque. Mrs. Elda Manning, Johns mother, received a plaque from the college for her and her husbands years of service in music in Southern Utah. Hie program was .held at Y voane Larsen Citixen Photo shares some of her favorite recipes as Cook of the Week. They drove to San Francisco to do some sightseeing. She was gone 10 days. Coy and John Manning and family, Wayne and Christine, drove to Cedar City and visited his mother, Elda School They Clair McCall in Hemet. They visited the Queen the Southern Utah College in Cedar (Sty. Coy ,and John Manning went with the band. Cleone and Don Dailey drove to Boise Friday to visit Mr. Daileys son and wife, Wilma and Brent Dailey. Mary and Susan, Paul and Jeanne visited Disneyland while the men attended meetings. They were gone' one week. Janine and David Ervin Manning. They drove to St. George and visited Johns brothers and sisters and attended two sessions at the temple. Wilda Plowman, Add, and daughter, Iris Hancey, Providence flew to San Francisco and visited Wildas brother and wife, Louise and Platt Hend in San Mateo. They did some sightseeing at Fishermans Warf and Carmel by the Sea and other places. They were gone six days. Mrs. Winnie Ziegler drove to Salt Lake City to visit her sister, Lou and Glen Wine-ga- r. Mr. Winegar is president erf the Wells Stake. Winnie attended conference. They all had supper up Notes Our cook of the week, Yvonne Larsen, was born in Lewiston to Elva and Spencer Porter,' now tsp. salt tsp. pepper 1 Richmond. She married Gene Larsen 17 years ago and they are the parents of Randy, 16, Kandy, 14, and Cindee, 9. Genes parents are Edna and Guy Larsen. Randy sings and plays the guitar, the girls both dance and take piano lessons and are presidents in their MIA groups. They have all participated in plays, etc., in their church. Gene is a farmer with a dairy herd and beef cattle and he likes people. Yvonne has been Primary president twice and'held about every position in her ward, and was magazine representative before the change. She is mother education leader now in Relief Society. She was dance director in road shows, vice president of the PTA, has taught dancing 20 years at her home. She enjoys sewing, making hooked rugs, cooking and loves being a homemaker. She and her family, like to work together and take short trips to Bear Lake. Yvonne has had one year of college, one year at business school and worked in Ogden before her 44 . BAKED BEANS 2 large cans pork and beans 144 1 She is glad to share four of her favorite recipes with you. 44 CAKE.. cup boiling water cup Mothers Oats cup butter, softened cup sugar cup brown sugar tsp. vanilla 2 eggs V4 tsp. nutmeg 144 cup sifted flour 1 tsp. soda Mi tsp. salt 44 tsp. cinnamon Pour boiling water over oats, cover and let stand 20 minutes. Beat butter, sugars, vanilla and eggs. Add oats mixture and mix well. Add flour, soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Bake at 350 degrees far 5 minutes. 1 1 large pkgs. of lemon jello 2 cups hot water Chili Dissolve jello in hot water and add 2 cups until partially set. Add 1 pint drained crushed pineapple, 3 bananas, 1 cup miniature marshmallows. 2 P. Add to chilled jello and set. TOPPING: 44 cup pineapple juice 4 cup sugar 2 Tbsp. flour 1 eggbeaten 2 Tbsp. butter Add all this together; stir and cook until thick. Cool. Add Vi cup cream, whipped. Spread on set jello and sprinkle with shredded cheese. s FROSTING: 44 cup melted butter 4 cup brown sugar 3 Tbsp. half and half cup chopped nuts Mi cup coconut Combine all ingredients. For her active community service throughout her life, Mrs. Effle Greene, Smith-fielreceived the award of d, recognition from Smithfleld mayor, Oral Ballam and the city council. She was the first librarian when it opened in 1922 and set up die library system, also served as PTA cert Hall at USU. Susan is studying under Gary Amano, USU music department. family dinner was given in honor of Vilate Low, who was celebrating her 80th birthday April 6. Some 45 A family members gathered at the Second Ward church house as did her husband, Lorin. Her children are Afton Woodruff, Budd, Charles and Ned Low and they all live in Smithfleld. Vilate has 18 grandchildren. She loves handwork and cross word puzzles. A dinner at Maddox honored Esther and Edward P. Stuart on their 50th wedding anniversary given by their, family, Mrs. Wayne (Orene) Purser, Richmond; Mrs. Louis (LaVoy) Mattson, Roy; Mrs. Calvin (Vivian) Archibald, Sparks, Nev.; Clark Stuart nod Clyde Stuart, Wellsville. All family members attended including 14 Grant Toolson. , , Beatrice Thornley drove to Thatcher to visit her brother and his wife, Arietta and George R. Thornley and family, Allen and Jon. Georges daughter and husband, Ida Lynn and Darrell Larkin had just moved to Hamptons Crossing from Thatcher. They moved into a home that was built in 1864. Beatrice Thornley attended the North Cache County Daughters of Utah Pioneers at the Cache County DUP museum Thursday. She represented the Summit Camp DUP, Smithfleld, of which she is a member. Susan Roberts, Hyrum, daughter of Mrs. Caroline Roush, Smithfleld was one of six area piano students who presented a concert at the Fine Arts Center, Kent Con View High School. He attended USU where he got his bachelors degree in music. At present he is completing his masters degree at BYU. He played several numbers. Grandmother Myrtle Bingham took her granddaughters two children, Greg and Trad Armstrong, and flew to Waxahachi, Texas.
