High School and farms in 'Spring' In the Springtime young man'a fancy tuma to . . This little phrase leaves a lot to be desired. I suppose, in springtime, a young mans fancy turns to girts, and diamonds and June weddings. Or so the gals might like to believe thats what a young mans fancy turns to in the Springtime. Not being a young man and less fancy, my thoughts turn to gardening, plowing, planting and weeding in the Springtime. In order to bring those lovely May flowers out of April, mud and last Septembers weeds a lot of hard backbreaking work is involved. s. Spring does have Its Suddenly the kids And their boots they lost last winter while sleigh-ridin- g in the back yard. Old socks 'lost forever" suddenly turn up near the dog house. The other" shoe is found half buried in a soggy mud bank. 7 I adore the smell of rain as I walk outdoors and the cod spring breeses playing havoc with my hair and the gentle squish of worms as they squash beneath my feet. I hate worms. Spring brings out the lovely foot-lon- g kind that squirm and wiggle on the sidewalk looking for a good gutter stream to fall into. 5 : 720 To change the subject. My friend and I found a new perfume the other day. We decided to hang our laundry outside to dry for a change. Suddenly were spoiled. The dull, electronic smell that dings to the clothes as they are removed from the electric dryer Just doesnt compare with the unbelievable aroma of the clothes that hang in the great outdoors. . The bottled clothes softener doesn't have a thing on Nature's recipe for freshness. Needless to say dryers do come in handy for a few of the modern day fabrics, but when ironing isnt required Nature has a way of making up for the wrinkles with a smell you Just cant fine in a bottle. , Spring does have advantages. The weather controls the life style of everything from planting to taking a walk. If its going to rain, early bird picnics are cancelled; if its going to rain we cant hang out our clothes; if its ping to rain we cant plant the vegetable garden. . pit-fall- .
