The building will house all of the maintenance equipment for the golf course, and will provide space for service and repair work, as well as record keeping and office. The Green Thumbers also helped with other phases of the golf course project, including the sprinkling system. He will also offer mass at 6:30 p.m. Saturday evening in Roosevelt but has cancelled the 8 a.m. Roosevelt Mass in lieu of Durhesne, Parishioners are reminded the Mass at the picnic grounds will fullfil their Sunday obligation. First on my list of things and stuff for the column this week is to say thanks to the UBIC Committee for all the work and effort put forth to make this UBIC probably the biggest UBIC ever. Everything seemed to go off like clockwork, which is the result of cooperation and good organization. A big THANKS to Renee' Chasel for designing the Chamber of Commerce float. She and her children decorated it. Ron Johnson, Con Bell, Rodney Bell and Milt Iorg also have a big thanks coming for building the frame. I understand another thanks is also in order to John Chasel, who donated the wagon. It is real gratifying to receive such cooperation on the Chamber projects. We also appreciate Ron Johnson and his family for riding on the float. All of these services are time consuming. It is great to have such congenial people to work with. Our flqat won a prize of 625.00. There were many good entries in the parade this year and I want to say thanks to the many many people who spent hours working to make the parade a success. Our Chamber of Commerce business directory is off the press now. Copies have been sent to all Chamber members and it has been distributed at various other sources. They are available at the office to anyone desiring a copy. They will also be distributed in the Welcome Wagon basket to the new people coming into the area. We feel that this directory will be beneficial to many people. We hope to iron out any problems with it before the next publication, which should be in March. This directory lists Chamber of Commerce members only, payment of membership dues automatically places you and your business in the directory. We expect that a supplement to the directory will be published in the near future entering members that have come in since this directory was published. After a long wait, we now have our information and Chamber of Commerce sign leaning up against the front of the office. It is expected that it soon will be hanging above the door, that is if some of our good members (probably our good president) finds time to hang it. I know it has been a problem for many outsiders and some who live here to find the Chamber office, but as soon as this bright, red, yellow and pink sign is up there should be no problem. I have had quite a bit of comment from folks trying to call this office and after calling information were unable to get our number. The office is listed under Chamber of Commerce, not Roosevelt Area Chamber of Commerce. I have called the telephone company and advised them of the problem. They are very cooperative. It seems to me that Roosevelt is really missing the boat by not having a museum of some kind. The Chamber of commerce is interested in working with anyone who is interested in getting a museum established. I am sure that we have many people who can give us history on the area, as well as many relics and antiques stored in attics that will tell a good story of our early days. Anyone interested please call the Chamber office and let's see if we can't form a committee to work on this worthwhile project. At our last Chamber of Commerce meeting someone suggested that it might be well if we prepared a map on historically interesting spots in the area. Also, a map showing boundaries for Indian and hunting and fishing. This is a good idea. How many of us who are long time residents are not sure where the boundaries are, to say nothing of those who come from out of the area. I am looking for a volunteer for this project, anyone interested? Don't forget about the tour on August 22 to Devil's Playground. Meet at 8:00 a.m. at the Roosevelt City Park. Phone for lunch reservations. Anyone is invited. Chamber Challenge: Support your Chamber of Commerce - become a member.
