Mrs. Marjorie Lee left Saturday for Reno, Nev. where she will go to school for a week for the Head Start school. They had all been to the Salt Lake air port to see their son a mission to Sweden. In Sheridan Wyoming early this month she was named first runnerup to Miss Indian America and In this position will make appearances with Miss Indian America during the coining year. A big pow wow Is being arranged with a barbecued chicken dinner to be served at 3 p.m. to an expected 1500 guests. There will be a program with special guests to lie speakers and an Indian Village Is being constructed complete with a number of teepees where there will be Indian dancing with tribal members and guests performing the beautiful dances In authentic Indian costumes of beads, buckskin and feathers. Mllllcent Maxine Natchees Is employed as a secretary to Ute Tribal Business Committee at the Tribal office and has the Important task of translating the combination of English and Ute discussions to American Shorthand for the records She Is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Natchees of Randlett. She graduated from Union high school at Roosevelt and attended Utah State University where she She has served majored In Business. as an employee of the Department of tlie Interior In Washington D. C. and as secretary In the Social Services department at Ft Duchesne. Active In the Business and Professional Womens Club she Is presently serving as treasurer of the Roosevelt BPW Club. Homey Secakuku Is chairman of the arrangements for the day. He Is a member of the Tribal Business Committee. The cities of Roosevelt and Vernal and county officials of Uintah and Duchesne have been Invited as well as BPW club members and other civic organizations. Officials have also been Invited from the BIA area office at Phoenix. Miss Natchees Is not the only person in her family who has brought honor to the Ute Tribe. Her father Harvey Natchees is noted as the first American soldier into Berlin during the second World War. Mr. and Mrs. Garn Gilbert, Othello, Wash, visited with the following relatives, Monday; Mr. and Mrs, Thomas M. Gilbert, Mr. and Mrs. LeGrand Gilbert and Gayle Gilbert. They were overnight guesta at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Lusty.
