The war of the classes does not find a fertile soil in the United States and necessarily the doctrines of violence, which fired the are losing their appeal. It is apparent that imagination of the the soap box is not to be a substitute for the Declaration of Independence. THE red-minde- d, The year of the armistice has been a year of industrial alarm and menace, but as Christmas approaches, we can see the old stars of Americanism shining serenely through the. conflagrations started by those who thought to destroy the government. For freedom and equal opportunity was to be substituted the dictatorship of a class. The golden rule was to be replaced by the rule of hate. The between capital and labor was to end. in a state of unending warfare in which all the institutions of our fathers were to go down into chaos. . co-operati- on i The invisible spirit of American unity is conquering. There is to be charity for all and malice toward none. Capital and Labor are to shake hands and the Public is to give the blessing. But the atmosphere has cleared. More than any other people, we escaped the ravages of war and can look forward with more hope than any other people to a period of unparalleled development and prosperity. Labor never was so well paid and there never was such a demand for labor. That demand will continue unless strikes paralyze business, but all indications now point to an era of good will and industrial peace. The American people have said Let's Go and they are on their way to a higher, better and happier civilization. |
