Pendleton, Vernal District Manager, for the Bureau of Land Management. Cooperative studies with the Division of Wildlife Resources indicate that a population of approximately 150 wild horses now uses national resource lands in the district at least part of each year. Some of the horses also use Ute Tribal lands as well as state and private lands. In these cases it will be necessary to develop cooperative programs for their management and protection. Studies have been completed which identify the wild horse ranges, migration routes and watering holes. Additional data on range condition, herd composition, mortality problems and distribution are needed before management plans can be completed and implemented. The Wild Horse and Burros Act (PL 5 of December 15, 1971) provides a clear mandate from Congress to insure protection and future care of all bands of horses and burros. wild and This includes sufficient habitat including year-lon- g forage needs, adquate water supplies, protective measures and population control methods. The Bureau of Land Management is of charged with the responsibility providing complete protection to all wild horses and burros spending all or part of their time on national resource lands. We will not tolerate any form of chasing or harassment of wild horses found in the district", said Mr. Pendleton. "This is our responsibility and we will take every step possible to give these animals the protection under the law", he concluded. $ For the finest produce it's Cash Meat CHOICE ORANGES Quality and Freshness come first lb CALIFORNIA, Lb.
