The commissioners said they would try to oil a portion of the road, but no definite committment can be made until the road of ofl program is set and the availability determined. Discussion as to a site for gravel crushing was entered into. Ken Carter, representing Duchesne County Cattleman's Association, discussed the problems connected with night hunting and the association's opposition to the same. After careful consideration it was moved by Ray Thomas and seconded by Loryn S. Ross that the Duchesne County Commission go on record as opposing night hunting in Duchesne County. Motion carried. Manpower funds were discussed and the clerk was requested to obtain information as to fund allocations and positions allocated to our county. Roy Elia son of Duchesne City said that the dty would be interested in purchasing an old dump truck from the county. This will be discussed with the road supervisor. Cam Caldwell informed the Commission of the status of applications he is processing for low income housing funds. The application of Alice Firth was approved and to pay $1,030.00 for repairs to the Vern Holfeltz home, said payment being the amount of the job bid for which the City had no funds. The plat for the amended Stevenson addition to Altamont Town was approved and signed. 36 STANDARD JANUARY 23. 1975 County Commission minutes show approval of projects Unofficial minutes of the Duchesne County Commissioners held Tuesday, Jan. 14. Showed that a motion was made by Loryn S. Ross and seconded by J. Rulon Anderton that the commission approve the plans of Myton City for a water treatment plant. Motion carried. A letter of approval was prepared and signed. A letter from Mrs. Rae Rasmussen, director of assistance payments administration for district 6, Department of Social Services, requesting assistance with payment for prescribed medicines for Mrs. Virda Anderson was read and considered. Moved by Loryn S. Ross and seconded by Ray Thomas that the county pay the cost of refilling the prescriptions for medicine for Mrs. Virda Anderson. Motion carried. Joe Austin, Area Livestock Specialist, mentioned several suggestions for consideration which might help to improve future county fairs: 1. Expressed desire of many individuals to have the show barn rebuilt. 2. Measures taken to assure security extensins of that line in the clerk, treasurer and extension services offices. with the county civil defense director, Porter L. Merrell, who stated that he has an order at surplus property for two pickups. The commissioners said that when the county receives these vehicles it is possible that one of the older pickups held by the county for more than two years could be sold. Valley Engineering representatives. Gale Larsen, Jerry Allred and John Stafford, expressed a desire to do engineering work for the county and cited some qualifications of their staff. They stated that they are registered for doing engineering on B. & C., Collector and Federal Aid, secondary road projects and have had considerable experience in this type of work. They stated further that they could provide a valuable service to county officials by keeping plats up to date, providing descriptions and acerage on leftover tracts of land when property is sold, eliminate overlaps, locating monumentation, reviewing plats presented to the commission and verifying their compliance with county ordinances. This was taken under advisement Reed Clayburn, Frank Murphy, Kenneth Clayburn, and Gary Sheilds inquired as to the County's plans for for show animals. 3. Consolidation of activities for each scheduled event so that everything connected with anyone given event will be held on one day. 4. Fencing the fairgrounds, which will add to security measures as well as permitting charging admission when desired. 5. Establish a clear line of authority on the fair grounds or enter into an agreement with the city for usage, so that the facilities will be ready when needed. 6. Have plans drawn up for future development and expansion to assure orderly growth and adequate facilities. The commissioners expressed a desire to have a new show barn. Theo Perkins, Manager of Mountain Bell, discussed alternate plans for increasing telephone services in the courthouse and making calls to the county officials cost free to county resident. It was moved by Loryn S. Ross and seconded by Ray Thomas that a direct line from Roosevelt be installed in the office of the county assessor and Other county offices will use these phones. It was also agreed to update the telephone equipment in the sheriffs office, install a key system which will also serve the attorney's office and remove the extension in the Judges Chambers. Commission appointments made included weed committee, Loryn S. Ross, and water improvement district, Ray Thomas. Harold White and Paul Foote informed the commission that the Johnson Water Association is in dire need of a pickup and inuuired about buying a surplus property one from the county.
