Show OCTOBER 10, 1974 STANDARD Emergency loans approved in 3 counties State nursing board schedules UBAVC visit The Department of Agriculture has authorized the receiving of emergency loan applications in the following counties in the Slate of Utah: Duchesne, Iron and Sanpete. This action was taken because of prolonged drought from April 1 through August 2, 1974. Therefore, as a result of this designation SHA is authorized to accept and process applications for the above areas under the Economic Injury Disaster Loan Urogram. EIDL assistance may be provided if the applicant can establish that he has suffered substantial economic injury to the business as a direct result of the drought. The interest rate will be 5 percent. There will be no principal cancellation. It has been administratively determined the applications under this program will expire June Uintah Basin Area Vocational practical nursing program will be Tuesday and Wednesday Oct. 8 by a survey team from the Utah State Board of Nursing. The team of three registered nurses, all actively working in some area of nursing, are appointees of the governor to the board of nursing. They will be in Roosevelt and Vernal to survey the clinical facilities that the Uintah Basin Area Vocational Center plans to utilize in the practical nurse program, and will meet with the advisory council of the practical nursing program in Vernal at 4 p.m. Oct. 8. Uintah County Hospital is on the Oct. 9 schedule at 8 a.m. From there, they will survey Sunrise Convalescent Center in VernaL At 11 a.m they will be at Duchesne County Hospital, and then Snyders Convalescent Center in Roosevelt. Included in the survey will be the health sciences building on the Uintah Basin Area Vocational Center campus, where students in the practical nurse program will have their classes and lab experience. The afternoon will be spent writing their report, after which they will return to Salt Lake City. When the total state board of nursing completes their study of the entire report, including the extensive preliminary planning submitted by Jean Smith, director of practical nursing, the Uintah Basin Area Vocational Center, will be notified of the board's decision regarding the state of the program scheduled for March 3, 1975. ADVISORY GROUP-T- his Mrs. Nola Nelson Sympathy goes out to Mary Lou and Duane Boren at the death of her mother, Mrs. Charley (Wanda) Bowden, who passed away October 3, 1974 in Vernal. Services were Monday October 7. Mr. and Mrs. Gail Anderton visited one day in Provo with Mary and Charlie Springer. Mr. and Mrs. Max Nelson, Penny Christensen and boys motored to Helper Friday where they participated in a rehearsal and wedding supper at the home of their daughter Karen and Wayne Brown Friday night Saturday October 5lh, Shane Brown and Cathy Pallette were united in marriage at St. Anthony's in Helper. A banquet followed. Family members traveling to Helper for the affair were Cheri and Dale Womack, Larry and LaRae Nelson from Twin Falls, Ted and Gayle Nelson and family, Clinton, Errol and Joanne Nelson and son, Eric and Joan Nelson and children, Mrs. Hazel Brown, Leslie and Jeannie Brown and children, Roosevelt, Max and Brenda Shaw, Ina and A.D. Mr. and Mrs. Gail Loranger were Salt Lake visitors for several days for a weight watchers seminar and luncheon. Gail visited his uncle, Mr. Ed Loranger and Nile Gines in Midvale and they stayed with daughter Peggy and Kent Anderton. Mrs. Effie Taylor entertained at a quilting Bee this week. Mr. and Mrs. Gail Anderton were Salt Lake visitors over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Reed Anderton enjoyed a phone call from their son, Bruce and lamily from Grands Isle La. David Hunt and son UDell will be on television channel 5 on the 6:30 news either Thursday or Friday the 10th or 11th for kclidescope on prospecting. Remo and Dean Hamblin spent several days in Richfield visiting with relation. The Kenneth Christensen and Rob Madsen families. Mrs. Jean Wall was hostess at a pink and blue shower honoring Mrs. Judy Carter. The party was held Monday at the Kay Madsen home. Refreshments were served and the mother to be received many useful gifts. Mr. and Mrs. Willard Smith and son left Wednesday morning for Davenport Iowa to attend graduating ceremonies for their son Aaron also husband of Lillian. Aaron is graduating from Kalmer College with a D.C. in Chiropractors. They expect to be gone a week. Mrs. James Powell and daughter, Dorthella Baker from Salt Lake escaped serious injurys Friday when they were involved in a two car accident. Mrs. Baker was driving Powells sedan and slowed down for a car coming out of the Wilkerson home on the Neola highway. Bill Labrum coming south driving a Ford Pickup hit the rear of the car and slid around and hit the front on the drivers side. The damages were extensive but no injuries. 4a l?i Mil. ImMIm Mr. and Mrs. Jack Allred and Chip just returned home from a trip to the North West where they visited with their daughter Helen and husband Robert Allen in Richland Washington and toured all points of interest at Pasco. On returning they visited their daughter Jean and husband Roy Lambert and family and their daughter Doris and David Hislop at Salt Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Brent Wall, Mr. and Mrs. K.C. LaRose spent five days in Los Vegas. Funeral services were held Monday for Eric Call who passed away recently. Ben surgery. Mr. and Mrs. James Powell spent two days in Provo this weekend.
