Show theme: Save America Save 25ftto" because that is the aim of the campaign-t- o save about 25 of the consumption used by the automobile. The U. S. Chamber publishes an Energy News Alert from the Energy Impact Center in Washington, I). C. These publications contain all pertinent information, legislation and action taken with regard to the energy crisis. These publications contain Laymen's Language for Interpreting Mandatory Petroleum Allocation Regulations including first listings of state representatives responsible to resolve emergencies for and and hardships. The Federal Energy Office Gasoline Rationing Contingency Plan", which includes Coupon Allotment, Distribution, Use and Collection is among the booklets published on this subject. These publications are available to those interested, just contact the office. Many believe that we in the Uintah Basin are not affected much by the energy crises. Possibly not to the extent that some areas are, but the fact is that we are facing a shortage. I conducted a limited survey a couple of weeks ago by calling the stations in the area and found that supply was not limited critically, but it is on the decline. Most of the local stations had nut then resorted to limiting the number of gallons sold per customer. I did find that diesel was becoming harder to obtain. I guess its one of those situations where you hope if you just don't think about it, it will go away, but I am afraid the situation is real and we're going to have to live with it. At the most recent board of directors meeting we passed a resolution in support of Vocational Education Week - February 10 through 16. There will be activities at the school, including an open hour, during the week. These activities will be open to the general public and will let you see the school in operation and the programs which they are carrying out. I met with the UBAVC Marketing Advisory Committee last week and discussed with them a community project, at The Chamber Maid V Roosevelt set-asid- Area Chamber of Commerce (. Bril By Paula The U. S. Chamber of Commerce nas undertaken a campaign to promote a nationwide voluntary gasoline conservation program. In a Washington press conference on Dec. 27, Chamber Executive Arch N. Booth and Energy Advisor William Simon made public a three-steprogram to voluntarily decrease energy consumpp tion. Local chambers are now trying to exercise influence within their communities urging citizens to (1) voluntarily not drive private vehicles to work any two days of the week (. . .to utilize car pools or mass transit), (2) reduce business vehicle use at work (. . .using telephone and better trip scheduling instead), and (3) learn to operate vehicles more efficiently (. . .by using correct tire pressures, proper tuning, etc.). It is hoped that these and other emergency measures will help preserve jobs and increase business efficiency during the crisis. The U. S. Chamber has selected the their request. 1 was very happy to see a group of students interested in a project which would benefit the community. They will come up with a questionnaire by implementing the principles which they have been studying. We hope the results will give us an insight to the shopping habits and related comments of the general public. We certainly hope that everyone will receive these students well and cooperate with them by answering their questions. We will hear more about this project at a later date. I am impressed with the variety of programs offered at the UBAVC and their interest in serving the entire Uintah Basin. At a recent advisory committee meeting discussion was had as to how they could serve the Duchesne, Tabiona, Daggett and Vernal area better. They are working hard to implement an entire basin program, and I am sure that public support is going to be one of the biggest contributing factors. A bouquet to the entire UBAVC staff for their untiring efforts to improve this area of the education system of the Uintah Basin.
