This new series of presentations is coordinated by the Church Educational System of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints. The presentation will begin at 7:30 p.m., and Brother Waters will be discussing the subject The Role of Adversity in Our Lives," which will explore the purposes of weaknesses and adversity and show why, in the wisdom of the Lard that, some of the lowliest walks in life, the paths which lead into the deepest valleys of sorrow and up the most rugged steeps of adversity, are the ones which, if a man travel in, will best accomplish the object of his existence in this world." He has taught at Brigham Young University for the past 16 years and is a professor in the College of Business. He served as bishop of the BYU Tenth Ward for seven years and has served as a member of the Melchizedek Priesthood Correlation Task Committee of the Church. Many ads will have no clues,-- some as many as four or five. This is a contest of skill, and we intend to do our best to outwit you. Grandparents are Mrs. Sylvia Bristol and Bernis Bristol both Bluebell, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Allen, (former Basin residents) now Marysville, Wash. Mrs. Allen came on Sunday by plane from Washington to be with her son and his family and help with the new baby. Dr. Allen and La Voir Bristol met her in Salt Lake. Mrs. Sylvia Bristol spent Sunday in Vernal visiting with Dr. Allen and family. The little son of Delmar and Pearl Code was blessed and given a name by Bishop Paul Bird. Also another son of the Cook's was baptized and confirmed a member on Sunday. His name is Raymond. Another special occassion on Sunday in the Cook family was the birthday anniversary of Pearl. In Sacrament meeting Sunday was the release of Mrs. Fontella Jenkins as the Relief Society president with Ida Pulley and Dixie Swasey as counselors, Cleona Remington as secretary was also released. The new Relief Society president of the Altamont 2nd ward sustained was Rita Hansen with Ida Pulley as a counselor. Other officers not chosen as yet. Mrs. Merle Lisonbee accompanied by her sister, Mrs. Marie LaVer of Salt Lake went to Glen Ellen, Calif., by bus where they visited for 10 days with family members. They returned home by plane. The Daddy Daughter date night, a program in the Primary was held on Saturday night at the Altamont chapel under the direction of Mrs. Gwen RemSixington and Mrs. Connie Fieldsted. teen girls and their Daddy's or partners were there and enjoyed an evening of fun. Dancing was led by Mrs. Bemece Atwood. A nice supper was given, a cake decorating contest was held with Verl Tucker as 1st place winner and Roger Benson as 2nd place winner. The following girls and fathers from Bluebell enjoyed the evening. Jimmy Bird and daughter, Kitty, JoAnn and her father, Jerry Parry; Jodi and her daddy, Gary Goodrich; Beverly Young and Bruce Goodrich; Cindy Cook and her grandfather, Mr. Blanchard; John Pohbander and girls JoAnn and Sherryln and Bishop Paul Bird as Sherryln's partner, Ron Miles and daughter Darla; Roger Benson and daughter Shannon; Albert Potts and two daughters, Terri and Tammy; Pres. Howard Todd, accompanied Terri as her partner; Elaine and Charles Mathews; Sandra and her father, Val McDonald; Debra and father, LaMar Bisel; Connie Christensen and her father, Bill Christensen. The following from this area drove to Provo on Friday to attend the funeral services of Mrs. Barbara Winkler Gates, 44, of Columbus, Ohio. Barbara was the daughter of Justn and Donna Penrod Winkler (former Bluebell residents) Barbara is survived by her husband, two sons, and her parents. Those going were Udell Winkler, Shana Lee Loertscher, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Monsen, Mrs. Grant Monse, Mrs. Verona Goodrich. Mr. and Mrs. Verl Roper went to Vernal on Saturday.
