From Clinton Elementary t; Jazz win look primed for playoffs 12th-straigh- Randy Hendricks Sports Writer Daylight Savings Time began Sunday. For the Utah Jazz, moving the clock ahead just one hour wasnt nearly enough. The Jazz would like to move it up about two weeks. After all, with the Jazz the Midwest holding both Division title and the overall Western Conference race within their grasp, time from now until the end of the regular season cannot go fast enough. Utah has seven games to go to conclude the season, and Jerry Sloan's primary chore will be to keep his team sharp for the start of the playoffs despite having essentially nothing left to prove. The Jazz have assured themselves of at least the second best recoid in Iranchise history. Ltuh Mill has important match-up- s versus Houston, remaining Phoenix and the EA Takers (twice), but those games will have mme to do with playoff posturing than positioning following Sundav's win ovei ( lolden Slate, the lazz tail their w mii'ii!' sneak to 12 sti, light and won then cmlith siinighl on the load hey have ptst tluee road games to go in the tegulat season. Friday, April 4 Jazz 106, Vancouver Grizzlies 79 the Sacramento Wednesday Kings had kept up with the Jazz about half of the first period. The Vancouver Grizzlies didnt last anywhere near that long Friday. This game was over after Utah put the first nine points on the scoreboard. There was a feeling of old times at the Delta Center when the Grizzlies took the floor with three Blue former Jazz players: Edwards, who was drafted in 9X4 by the Jazz and played three full seasons and part of a fourth with Utah. Eric Leckner who was also dialled by the Jazz in 1988 and Aaron Williams who played eight games for Utah. Game highlights: The Jazz . 3 Turnovers: 100 beat the Warriors comlortably but had trouble holding a eomloitable lead. In the Inst lull they moved out to a 22 point lead only to see the Warriors turn the margin to 14 points thanks to an 14 6 Golden State run before the intermission. Then m the fourth quarter Utah's 2b point edge melted before a furious shooting attack triggered by Scott Burrell's three which narstraight rowed the advantage to 13 before Karl Malone, Bryon Russell and Jelf Hornacek reentered the lineup to put the finishing touches on the win. The Jazz shot 75 percent in the first period and were still shooting The bad 67 percent by half-tim- Shooting: 77.8, Ft Jazz: Et Shooting: Eg 66.7, 3 pt Rebounds: 53.8, 46.2. 42. Assists: 21.
