Show page 8 Davis County Dipper October 20, 1995 Friday, Stomp planned for Friday night at WXHS Michelle Hatch Student Reporter Hi Wildcats! This week there were all kinds of things happening in Wildcat land. Womens soccer championship was this Monday and Tuesday. The Ladycat team did an amazing job and really played well. Our Ladycat volleyball team has had an incredible season and have only lost one game. They played awesome in their game yesterday against Olympus. Way to go ladies! Our sophomore, JV, and varsity football teams all had games this week and played great games. Congratulations to the WX Cross Country team who made us proud Wednesday at the region tournament. Tonight there is a stomp at 8:30 at the Woods Cross Gymnasium sponsored by the Speech department. This money goes to improve the department and helps some outstanding students participate in competitions. Student activity card is required and the cost is $4. It will be good people, good music, for a good good fun, and cause, so dont miss it! Congratulations to the Wildcat of the Week Kim Smith. Kim is ranked 1 in her senior class at Woods Cross. She enjoys dancing and playing the piano. She is involved with the drama and choir departments. Kim is very diligent, and really makes a difference at our school. A week ago, Thursday, a Woods Cross student had a very important event in her life take place. Lira Nikolai was sworn in as a United States citizen. Lira is from Russia and moved to the United States five years ago. She has since learned English very fluently. She loves in here, and is glad to become a citizen. We are so glad Lira is part of Woods Cross! Thats all for this week! Hope you have a great weekend! , its hard-workin- g, students attend youth BHS Operation Smile seminar Cherie Huber Contributing Writer BOUNTIFUL Officers of the Bountiful High School Operation Smile Club, Monica Pearson, Brittany Nelson, Lynette Neeley, Carl Duke, Miriam Harmer along with their sponsor Shawna Duke attended the Smile Operation International Youth Leadership Conference and Mission Training Conference held August first through the eight at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Young people from all over the world attended this conference including youth from Panama, Nicaragua and Romania. The medical mission workshops included training in dental care, bum prevention and treatment, and rehydration therapy. The high school students will be using this workshop training in upcoming medical and educational Operation Smile missions to developing countries. Other lectures at the Leadership Conference included lectures on teamwork, discus- sions on surgery, international communications, living with a deformity and the medicaleducational missions. The conference was presided over by the founder of Operation Smile, Dr. William Students honored During the month of September Meadowbrook Elementary School in Bountiful had 42 students who earned the Student of the Month honor. In the kindergarten classes recognized were TJ Abies, Dallas Bosh, Corey Coleby, Kelsi Craven, Lisa Kellersburger, Madison Page, Katelyn Peterson, Amy Stucki, Tonya Terry, and Logan Ynchausti; first grade, Lindsay Barneck, Zachary Ferrell, Tyson Rapier, Courtney Shutt, Meghan Titensor and Cody Wood; second grade, Jordon Gough, Travis Holt, Kimberly Peterson, Sarah Porter, Kyle Rydalch, and Jennifer Whiting; third grade, Jacob Kruger, Kaley Ohm, Eric Rood, Meghan Smith, Travis Stucki, and Jessica Waite; fourth grade, Jase Henderson, Joseph Kingston, Bradley Mills, Emily Porter, Stacie Vandegrift, and Beth Wilding; fifth grade, Brandie Dyson, Travis Miller, Karin Smith, and Craig Williams; sixth grade, Kylie Downs, Jodie Rees, Corrie Simmons, and Jared Whiting. Each student received a certificate, a bumper sticker and a gift certificate from Little Caesar's Pizza. You guys are awesome, so that means you better be having an even more awesome week. There are a plethora of activities going on this week, Gotcha for one, so put on your thinking hats and read on... Yesterday (I believe that would have been Monday) we had a fun lunch activity. We are having our first playoff football game this weekend. It will be totally Ryan awesome.
