STATEMENT OF REVENUES AND EXPENDITURES REVENUE: MEET JASMINE THE PIG: Jonathan Adduddell, a third grader at Meadowbrook Elementary in Bountiful, is shown with the school's new mascot, Jasmine the pig. The school is spending the entire year to raise funds to purchase new books and computer equipment. The goal of the fundraiser is $10,000 or one million pennies. Published in the Davis County Clipper on Oct. 13, 1995 Issue No. 71 Missionariesa Meadowbrook Elem. starts fundraiser for new books, equipment Meadowbrook Elementary School is celebrating its 30th birthday this year and there are plans to raise one million pennies to purchase new books and computer software to replace the schools outdated materials. With the help of faculty, student-bodand the community fundraising efforts are well on the way as during September $1,500 has been collected. In order to raise $10,000, each student needs to bring only 56 cents each week. The challenge facing the PTA is keeping the students motivated for the entire school year. To achieve this goal the school has adopted a new mascot for Meadowbrook Elementary. The mascot is a very big pig named Jasmine. Jasmine came" to in Bountiful y, Richard W. and Evelyn D. Burt have returned home after successfully serving in the New York New York North and Arkansas Little Rock Missions for The Church of Saints. Each class in the school was given a piggy bank and the students were told that the class in each grade that brought the most pennies would get to see their teacher kiss the pig at the end of the year. Another reward for the students will be a pizza party and a movie is the amount of money is reached for the books and computer. During the month of January, the PTA is going to be holding a spelling bee to help raise funds. The event will be called Spellabrate With Meadowbrook. Businesses from the community are invited to participate by entering a team in the spelling bee. Each business will be asked to donate $50 to enter. A team will consist of three members. Each word will be spelled by only one participant, but they can receive help from the other team members. If a business would like to donate but cannot enter a team in the spelling bee, it can sponsor a word for $25 that will be used. All funds raised on the night of the spelling bee will go directly into the library fund. Meadowbrook PTA would like to give thanks to Jamsines owners Debbie and Jenny Hugoe for lending their pet to help raise the funds for the school. Another thanks goes to Jennifer Bassarear from State Farm Insurance for sharing the idea for the spelling bee and providing six teams made up of State Farm agents and employees.
