Show Rowland celebrates his 80th birthday Joseph Brigham Rowland, bom Oct. 9, 1915, was honored by family and friends on Saturday, Oct. 7, 1995 at a Still in the Seventies party. Friends and relatives gathered from near and far to join the celebration. Entertainment was provided by his family and he was presented a book of tributes collected from themselves and numerous cousins and friends recalling their memories of growing up in Joes Sorority which is what he concrete work required because Joe Rowland has put in more sidewalks than you or I have ever walked on Upon the heels of his retirement, Joe served an LDS mission with his wife Ada in Alaska where his construction skills were called upon in the completion of the Sitka, Alaska chapel. He received permission to serve as a Patriarch in the Alaska mission having previously been ordained as Patriarch in the Val Verda Stake. Other LDS Church positions which he has filled include counselor to bishops in the Bountiful First Ward and the Pal Verda First Ward, Bishop Of the Val Verda First Ward, High Councilor in the Val Verda Stake and Stake Patriarch in both the Val Verda Stake and the Bountiful Central Stake. He is fondly remembered for his special skill at getting ward members to share their talents in helping each other when home improvements were needed. Many new dri- - Sannar graduates from the USMC MICHAEL T. SANNAR Pfc. Michael T. Sannar has completed the requirements for graduation from the United States Marine Corps, San Diego, Calif. He is now attending Marine Combat training at Camp Pendleton, Calif, prior to being sent to the Fleet Marine Force. Mike is the son of Steve and Rhenon Sannar of Bountiful and was a high honors graduate from Woods Cross High School class of 1993. Hi Wildcats! UEA was a wonderful break, but Wildcats are happy to be back to business at the Big Taco Time by the high- -; way...right? Starting at 7:25 am., sure seems early after four lazy days! Get in gear, because the days of this week are going to be anything but lazy! ; There are all kinds of sports that have happened this week. Tuesday the soccer Ladycats a great game against Ogden on our own field. Way to go girls! On Monday region tennis began, and it was wrapped up Tuesday. These girls really love to play, and they did great! There was a volleyball game Tuesday at Judge, and another on Thursday teachers really think youre doing! ;; Congratulations to Band, Chorus, and Orchestra Cats who this are participating in weekend. These musically outstanding students had to audition to be a part of this event Their final performance is Saturday ; night. Make us proud, guys! ;;; Woods Cross VICA club is presenting Harvest ball is this Saturday, October 14. Tickets will be on sale this week for $5 per person or $8 per couple. Wednesday there was a cross country meet at Murray.; The same day there was a combined sophomore and JV football game against Granite. On Thursday there was a varsity football game at Granite at 7, Our football team has done a fantastic job in representing Woods Cross. He is father of four daughters, Rebecca (Bill) Lance, Sandy, Utah; Joanne Rowland, New York, New York; Elizabeth (Randy) Campbell, Sandy, Utah; and Elaine (Scott) Wilson, Fruit Heights, Utah and three stepchildren, Sherylynne (John) Roth, Salt Lake City, Utah, J.D. Gailey, Park City, Utah, and Robert (Laurie) BUBBLES AND BUBBLES: Some 64 first graders from Centerville Elementary discovered recently how air takes up space by creating and experimenting with glycerin bubbles. With parent volunteer help, the students rotated to four bubble stations where they; 1) created long bubble snakes using plastic hangers; 2) felt what it was like to be inside a huge bubble made with hoola hoops; 3) explored many different household items to see which could make the best bubbles; and 4) kept track of how long their bubbles could last.
