Show E Council approves new home sites Lynn Averett Chase Lane and 400 West. The Contributing Writer land is being purchased from the Tingey Real Estate Company and the project is scheduled to be built in two phases; the north phase in 1996 and the south phase in 1997. The plan is to have three empty into 400 West. Following a public hearing, the council passed a rezone of approximately 7.5 acres from agricultural to residential located at 650 East CENTERVILLE - In a light ses- sion, Centervilles City Council approved several issues. Approved was the concept plan for Chase Lane Meadows single family residential subdivision. Robert Holmes has proposed a 24-lsubdivision on 6.3 acres of land located at the southeast comer of ot and 1000 North. A small portion of the property is owned by Craig and Terri Buhler and they requested not to have their property rezoned. That was also approved by the council. Also discussed was filling the council seat left vacant by Kenneth Brown. Applications are being taken until October 12, 1995 at 5 p.m. If interested, apply with a declaration of candidacy and statement of qualifications to the Centerville City Recorder at Centerville City Hall, 250 North Main, Centerville, Utah. The balance of the unexpired term runs only until December 31, 1995. A candidate will be selected by the council at their regular meeting on October 17. A resolution was passed for the recertification process to begin for Centervilles justice Court. Utah State law requires each municipal justice court to be recertified at the end of its term of office. The term of office for all justice courts will expire on February 5, 1996. Former commissioner sued by his mother A dispute between brothers has resulted in a suit being filed by their mother charging her sons, one a Davis former County Commissioner, with trying to bilk her out of her home and money. Marie C. Holbrook filed suit in 2nd District Court asking a judge to give her back sole ownership of her property. It asks that J. Dell Holbrook repay an $8,000 loan to his mother. Another son, Morgan County Sheriff Bert Holbrook, is also named in the suit. Salt Lake City Attorney Wesley Argyle represents the sons and said his client J.Dell has been very saddened by what has taken place. Argyle explained that the rift occurred when the Holbrooks father died in early March. J. Dell then advised his mother to put the deed to the property in the sons and her name. There is no skullduggery here, in fact its just the opposite of that. My clients interest is to make sure their mother is taken care of. And thats what the dispute is. In city council action, the council approved the expenditure of $1 1,000 out of the contingency budget to pay for storm sewer cleaning caused by the erosion problem. I see the erosion as a continual problem as the foothills are developed," said David Connors city councilman. Is there some way we can get the property owners who are causing the problems to pay for the cleaning, asked Pat Achter, council-woma- n. Tbe citys newly adopted required erosion bond will stop individual property owners as well as developers from disturbing the careful ecological balance on the hillsides. Property owners and developers will be required to put in landscaping, not only in the front yards but in the side yards as well before the bond will be released. The new ordi- nance gives us some teeth in helping to protect our storm sewer drains, said Max Forbush, City Manager. and several residences. The property owners have been excellent in getting it cleaned off, said Chief Jeff Jacobson, Farmington City Police Chief. Year to date statistics show 22 incidences of graffiti in the city. The city council appointed Councilwoman Tammy Boyce and Councilman, David Connors as well as attorney Lisa Romney, City Manager Max Forbush and Chief Jacobson to a committee to study the new graffiti ordinance.
