Show m,; lI rsSIE WSU Early College Program alternative for high school Erika CENTERVILLE Riddle believes her future would have been bleak had she not cumulative high school grade point average of 3 2 or higher and an ACT composite score of at least 22, according to Gail Wright, program director. The program is not limited to the a dropped out of high school. My grades were starting to old Centerville slip, the resident said. I just couldnt concentrate in that atmosphere. Riddle attended WSUs Early program helps many students find their niche in life, Wright said Some students have said they would have struggled to finish high school without this program. Those accepted into the program participate in an orientation course designed to give them the information and support they need for success in college courses. The students also have access to numerous campus services including personal, academic and career counseling. Students may take any combination of high school and college classes, Wright said. Some students take a whole university load while others choose to take only one or two college courses at a time to supplement their high school schedules. Students who continue in the program may participate in graduation exercises with their own high school classes, Wright said. Registration for this years program ends Friday, Aug. 18. Infoimation may be obtained by 6 or calling College Program last year and received college and high school credit for attending university courses. She graduated with her high school class last spring and shell complete her sophomore year of college at the end of this autumn quarter. Riddle said the first thing she enjoyed about her college education was not having to worry about her appearance. The next was finding she had a knack for the German language. And now shes on her way to Germany to participate in a program for four d study-abroa- weeks. Im so excited about what Im doing, Riddle said. I wouldnt have even known about the possibility of receiving college credits while traveling, had I not participated in the Early College Program, she said.
