Show f'i 'i w' DAVIS COUNTY CLIPPER At Pages Lane Theatre in Tuesday, August 17, 1993 C7 Centeville The Music Man to open Aug. 20 Pages Lane Theatre will bring d the most, Broadway musical, "The Music Man" into town for an extended run beginning Aug. 20 through Oct. 2. .This particular production will be unique in many respects. It is being presented in Pages Lane Theatre's intimate "in the round" setting where the audience will actually feel they are part of the "River City Citizens." The theatre is being transformed into the town square of River City, Iowa, the setting for Meredith's Willson's wonderful musical. All of the wonderful characters will come to life as portrayed by some of the most outstanding performers in Utah. Because of the long run of this musical there is a double cast. More than 340 people auditioned to be a part of this prestigious musical and from that audition 140 actual have been working for the past lew months to get the production polished and ready for Utah audiences to "love." "The Music Man" has some of the most well known and loved music in theatre history including: performers were chosen. Each night 70 of them will appear on stage. The part of Harold Hill, the well-love- traveling salesman, will be alternated by Bryce Jolley and Neldcn Maxficld who arc both well known and popular performers in Utah. Marian Paroo. the Librarian, will be played by two terrific sopranos Nanette Garrett and Diane Hall. These four head up an all star cast including Gordon Johnson and Ralph Rodgers and Mayor Shinn. Laurey Thornton and Linda Tenney "You Got Stubborn,"" Someone, trouble," "Goodnight "Iowa My "My White Knight." "Gary Indiana." "Marian The Librarian," "Shipooli" and many, many more. The directorial staff reads like a "Who's Who" in Utah theatre circles. The director is Ralph Rodgers and assistant director is portray the hilarious Eulalie Mackcknee Shinn while Chris Brown and Jan Noyes alternate as Mrs. Paroo. This particular production features some entire Utah families all serving as "citizens" of town. The Kim and Linda-Jca- Stephenson. n Joan Rodgers is musical supervisor and John Morgan has served as vocal director. Tickets for the production arc: $6 adults, $5 (children 12 and under, no children under age five admitted) on Monday through Thursday productions. Friday and Satuday productions, $8 adults, $6 (children 12 and under). A special student ticket is offered for Monday through Thursday productions at only $5 per scat. The group has donated the quilt for a fundraiser. Bryce won the quilt and is displaying it at the Davis County Fair on Aug. 19, 20 and 21. The quilt consists of 30 squares representing the state of Utah including features of Kennecott Copper, Utah Jazz, Saltair, skiing, Trolley Square, and Gold Spike.
