Show A2 DAVIS COUNTY CUPPER Tuesday, August 17, 1993 revenues exceed expectations Btfl. By PAUL CHALLIS News Editor The 1992-9- 3 BOUNTIFUL fiscal year preliminary financial report shows that revenues are 6 nearly projected and the general fund has collected $446,000. The preliminary financial report was compiled by summer intern, DccAnn LcVar, working in the city manager's office. Increased construction of homes was the largest factor for the increased revenues," she said. Also utility taxes received more from the construction growth. According to LeVar, the wet spring hampered the golf course revenues and that fund showed the only loss in projected monies. This is a preliminary report and the numbers are where we think they will be, City Manager Tom Hardy said. The numbers are subject to change. Other funds that recorded higher revenues than expected include the water department the landfill and the police department. The Recreation Department expenditures show a small amount more spent than projected. fiscal year ends on The 1992-9- 3 July 30 and the final report will be submitted to the council this fall. In other action, the council gave final approval of a building lot at 3219 South .100 East as requested by Kent Burch. The lot in the Val Verda subdivision was annexed into Bountiful last year. The council also gave final approval of a building lot at 4105 South Bountiful Boulevard as requested by Greg Ericksen. The lot on 3.5 acres of land also has a barn on it. Because of the large size of the lot the city doubled the costs of the storm drainage fee to $1,157. Part of the deal also included the easement for utilities in Bountiful. He radioed ahead and pulled off the freeway in Tremonton and parked in front of the hospital. Along with a driver from a second truck which accompanied him, he walked into the emergency room of the hospital complaining of chest pains. The Bear River Hospital staff quickly stabilized his heart and transferred him to McKay-De- e Hospital in Ogden where doctors told him that his quick thinking and medical help at Bear River Hospital saved his life. He has since been released, but keys to his truck are still hanging at the nurse's station at the hospital. Neither the driver nor the company seems overly concerned about retrieving the truck. "The trailer is empty," offered one nurse at the hospital who had been concerned that someone may be missing some furniture. The Leader -- Raw sewage headed for river of Moab faces minor costs for work on the The MOAB - city sewage treatment plant in order to get into compliance with federal regulations. That word came from Utah Department of Environmental Quality officials. According to Paul Krauth, the city has been in technical violation of its wastewater permit because the primary clarifier, the huge settling pond that allow splid material to collect at the bottom, has not been functioning correctly. Krauth told the council that sewage water that should stay in the pool for about an hour is remaining just six minutes, and "if it's going through that quickly, its not settling out." Krauth added that a solution to the problem would cost just a few hundred dollars, and that he would come back to Moab in the next two weeks to help with the work. In order to do the repairs, the clarifier will have to be shut down for two days, and raw sewage will be pumped directly into the Colorado River. Krauth said he was already working on the paperwork to receive permission from the state to do that. "As high as the river is now," he concluded, "you'll have a big diluting effect, won't have any problem." The sheriffs department requested an investigation into the suspected ' evidence handling by the officers. "The improprieties in ' problems were thoroughly investigated by an outside agency at our request," commented Sheriff Jackson. Lieutenant Jim Raburn of the St.. The count has it that 12,625 ate the barbecued turkey and roast beef dinners provided by the Manti Utah Stake, with help from surrounding stakes in the region. Friday and Saturday nights were the big affairs at both locations. And quite a few, 2,504, reported for the breakfasts that were provided by youth groups on the mornings following performances. who patronized the stands operated by the Ephraim and Pageant-goer- s Snow College Stakes in the Temple Hill area, also ate well. They sold around 8,000 hamburgers, 2,500 hot dogs, and 2,000 sandwiches, according to Val Anderson, food services chairman. Other popular items were brownies and sweet rolls. Thousands of cans of pop and zillions of snow cones were also consumed. The profits, still to be tabulated, from the dinners and booths finance the pageant. That has made possible the purchase of two buildings, costumes and state settings and a myriad of other expenses. Any excess is contributed to the LDS Church's missionary fund. The profits from the breakfasts support the youth programs. A visitor, after having dinner at the Tabernacle, said, "One of the largest miracles of the pageant is the number of volunteers who pitch in to help achieve its success."
