Executive Director We just work with the bare necessities. We dont do any cosmetic work, Ms. Borrell said. Unlike Carbon County, many Emery County municipalities handle their own funds from the state, Ms. Borrell said. Therefore, the housing authority will receive only the $2,500 county share of the housing rehabilitation funds she said. Linda Borrell of the housing authority said the funds allotted to this area are part of $500,000 appropriated throughout the state of Utah. Ms. Borrell said the funds in Carbon County are allocated on a first come, first served basis. There is a backlog of about 40 applications from persons waiting for repairs on their homes, she said. The prime concern for use of the money is to make housing safe, decent and sanitary for very low income residents, Ms. Borrell said. Leaking roofs, broken windows, nonfunctional heating and plumbing are some of the important problems to be remedied, she said. The housing rehabilitation program dates back to 1975, Ms. Borrell said. The state allocated $2.5 million that year for the program with $41,000 coming to . Carbon County, she said. Since 1978, the allocation has been $500,000 for the state. Ms. Borrell said the funds do not cover needs in the community. She said future larger allottments by the legislature would ease the situation. However, with occurring throughout the state, the larger expenditures are unlikely, she said. cut-bac- potato was used to assist in the burglary of more than $1,400 cash from the Eastern Utah Produce Company.
