Show The Salma Sun 8 Thursday, June 23, family, Provo, spent the weekend with their folks, Mr. and Mrs. Dolph Spencer. Michelle will remain for two weeks. 1983 Redmond News ' Accompanied by their daughter, Kay Christensen, and their grandchildren, Clay, Laurie, and Cory, the Merlin Ashmans have just returned from a vacation tour. They visited the Bryan Hafen family and Margaret Nelson in Mesquite, Nev., and the Don Christensen family in Las Vegas. They spent three days with their sons family, the Terry Ashmans, in Merced, Calif., where they went to Yosemite National Part They visited San Francisco, the Hearst Castle in San Simeon, Catalina Island, Huntington Beach, and other points of interest. Returning home Sunday, they attended church in Midvale where Merlin ordained Clay an Elder. After church they met with the Gerry Ashman family and enjoyed a famito celebly dinner and nt the weekend with their parents, Paul and Loretta Willardson. Beit and John Willardson and family joined them for Sunday dinner. Deanna Taylor, daughter of former residents, Don and Dorita Taylor, Idaho, is spending some time visiting the Kendyl Wilkins family. It was Camis birthday so they combined that with Fathers Day and had dinner Sunday. Kendyl, Carla Wilkins and Ken-dyparentsa, Mr. and Mrs Wilkins attended the wedding of his nephew in Lehi on Friday. Michele and Mark Ogden and H Lo-ral- ee and Russell Anderson to Salt Taka Primary Childrens Hospital with their two year old son. He accidentally swallowed some pills and was seriously ill. He remained there for 5 days and is at home now recovering. We wish him well. Visiting Vida Jensen for her 75th birthday, FYiday, were her children, Doris and Wally Caldwell from Torrance, Calif., Beverly and Jim Merfcos, Ogden, Elain Saffron, Salt Take and Donna Vee and Leland Sorensen, Axtell. Attending the funeral services for Byron Winters in Coalville were his grandchildren Jerry and Suzette Tainter, Salina. Guests for dinner Saturday at the home of Kay and Jenett Hales were her parents Mr. and Mrs. Sylven Christensen and their children Mrs. Karen Nielsen, Jillian and Katrina, Calvin and Becky Hales and Amy. Becky and Amy had been here and in Central for a week while Calvin attended a teachers seminar in Logan. Calvin has recently been sustained as executive secretary in West Valley. Karen and her children are visiting here this week. Debra and Lloyd Willardson spe 1 Scholarships Awarded At 4-- Expo Day. Marwood Hales accompanied other family membero, Dale, Colleen Christensen and family, Scott and Carrol Lee and family and Kathy Hill and son for a few days vacation at the Johnson Ranch. Roy and Lorraine Stubbs, Napa, Calif., have been, staying with Earl and Clara Spencer. They have been visiting with family and friends and enjoyed a day at Maple Grove. The Martin Jensen family reunion was held Saturday in the Spanish Fork Park. Those attending from here were Byron and Vera, Marvin and Esmont Jensen. LaMar and Sonoma Bosshardt are temple wop kers in Provo. They joined the family at the park. Amelda Poulson had a special day Sunday. Her family were all with her, except John and Sharon, to spend her birthday with her. Kurt Poulson, Springvtile, who has been working in the coal mines has been transferred here to work with SUFCo for awhile. He will be staying with his mother while he works here and helping her also. Spending the day with her also were Mae and Ray Campbell and Ruby Peterson and her daughter Barbara Bates. Visiting with Byron and Vera Jensen have been Dennis and Kathleen Jensen and family from Heb-e- r City. They visited Amelda Pous-o- n also. Jan and Jill Bosshardt returned home from the mission field FYiday. They dont have any definite plans as yet so we will enjoy them while they are here. I am sure they have been super missionaries. They will report in our ward on Sunday June ls er rate Fathers Keith, Clareen Christensen and family from Rohnert Park, Calif., are 'spending this week with their parents Jay and Doris Christensen. This week they will be joined by Ten Sevier County participated in the second annual Livestock Expo this past week in Provo. Winning a full tuition scholarship to Utah State University was Lynette Harris, daughter of Mel and LuDean Harris of Venice. She was one of two participants to receive a acfor her scholarship complishments at the Expo. Winning $50.00 first place cash awards were Bart Cowley, Venice, and Tina Crowe, Richfield, in their respective division of sheep and horse. Runner-u- p winners were: swine division, Mike Lunt; sheep division, Ben Harris, Richard Harris, Teresa Lunt and Georgia Johnson. They received tack for their awards. Other participants from Sevier were Kaycee Wilson, Rebecca Johnson and Dean Barrow. Purpose of the expo was to help young exhibitors become more proficient in fitting and showing and horses. Youth were given the opportunity to attend training programs in one of six areas: horse, sheep, swine, dairy goats, dairy cows, and beef. 4-- H 26. Lee and Tami Draper who are dorm parents at Snow College spent the weekend visiting with their parents Karrol and Loma Draper. They will be attending church here this summer because their college ward has been dissolved for the summer. Mike Berry , who lived with the Drapers for awhile has returned from his mission to Korea and will spend some time visiting their-livestoc- Attention Sevier County -- FLOOD VICTIMS them before he returns to his home in Wash. The Watson children are visiting here also, they are Karrol and Lomas grandchildren. Rachelle Rasmussen, Debbie Hales, Brenda Jensen, Derran Bosshardt, Kevin Hampton, Glen Jensen, Scott Wilkins and Jody Johnson accompanied other young people on Church a History Tour May 27 to June 13. They reported that some of the highlights of the trip included: New York City, Washington, D.C., Niagara Falls, the sacred grove, Carthage jail, and with her. That night her family visited and they had a barbeque. We were saddened to hear of the death of Hellen Stott, Manti. She is Steven Mickelsons grandmother Steven, Janice and family attended the funeral services in manti. Marvell and Darlene Anderson, and Betty and Glen Hunter, Betty Axtel from friends and Cad Sharp spent the weekend camping at Squaw Hollow. Owen Christensen and Betty Lemon joined them Saturday night and again Sunday night for a barbeque other places. I have talked to some of the kids and they said it was really a neat experience. We would like to thank their leaders and all those who take the time , to work with our young people. : Sandra Jensen went to the Salt Lake Temple with her sister Merilyn Gurr and Roger Hirshi, who were married there. Jim Porter, Director for Sevier County said the county's telephone are generally tied up with flood control activities, so officials chose to have residents mail in forms instead of calling be telephone. lines President Regan has added Sevier County to the disaster declaration which he signed for Thistle Lake on April 15, 1983. This qualifies public agencies to apply for assistance to overcome the destruction caused by the flood. However, before the private loans and grants can be made available, officials must prove that significant amounts of damage have resulted from the flood. Sevier County is added to the declaration for private property, low interest loans and grants will be made to property owners who qualify.
