Scherch LAYTON Charles George Scherch, 48, of 3410 N. 2400 E., died Saturday, July 2, 1988 at the McKay-De- e Hospital in Ogden of a heart at- tack. He was born Dec. 15, 1939 in Brooklyn, N.Y., a son of George Charles and Mary Florence Foster. He married Maria Rocker Feb. 28, 1963 in Sembach, West Germany. He retired April 1, 1988 as chief master sargent with the U.S. Air Force after 30 years of service. He had received the Meritorious Service Medal, Commendation Medal, Outstanding Unit Award, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Overseas Short and Long Tour Ribbon, Longevity Service Award Ribbon, NCO Professional Military Education Graduate Ribbon and the Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon. Surviving are his wife of Layton, his mother of Layton, one brother and one sister, Harold Scherch, N.Y.; Teresa Tararo Queens, N.Y.; one stepbrother, Thomas Campbell, Fla. Services will be held Thursday at 10 a m. at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1074 N. Fairfield Road, with Rev. Darrell Robarge officiating. Friends may call Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the mortuary and on Thursday one hour prior to services. Temporary interment, Lindquist's Washington Heights Memorial Park, where military honors will be accorded by the Hill Air Force Base Honor Guard at 1 1 a.m. Permanent interment, Lindquist's Memorial Park at Layton at a later date. Fred H. Peek Ogden area, graduating from Weber High School. He moved to Casper, Wyo. in 1964, returning to Sunset in 1986. He was a member of the Roy Christian Church where he was a trustee He was a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Army. Mr. Peek had been a realtor with Wardley Realty. Surviving are his widow of Sunset, four sons and one daughter, Robert Burden, Kirkland, Wash.; James Peek, Suisun City, Calif.; Richard Peek and Steven Peek, both of Casper, Wyo.; Sandra Wallace, Dallas, Tex. He married Ruby Bee Ilium Feb. 24, 1946, in Kaysville. The marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, Feb. 24, 1964. He was reared and educated in Davis County and attended Davis High School. She was born May 25, 1903, a daughter of James E. and Jane Watt Ellison. She married Leonard Hill Layton, May 1927 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died in 1953. She attended LDS High School in Salt Lake City and graduated from the University of Utah where she was a member of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She was a member of the LDS Church serving in the Relief Society presidency and as a teacher in many auxiliaries. She was a member of the Bay View Club, Davis Counties oldest women's club and a member of the Acacia Bridge Club. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Jane Layton Stromquist, Salt Lake City; three grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother and two sisters, David J. Ellison, Salt Lake City; Isabel Ellison Adams, Palm Springs, Calif.; Vera Layton Merrell, Layton. She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. She died April 15, 1970. He married Nellie Balmforth Rolfe, May 14, 1971 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He attended schools in Syracuse and graduated from Davis High School. He also graduated from Utah State University with a degree in education. He had lived in Syracuse for 22 years and in Boise the past 32 years. He served as mayor of Clearfield from 1953-195- 6 and had been a city councilman, and a director of Utah State Municipal League. He was active in the Chamber of Commerce, the Rotary, Kiwanis and the Boy Scouts of America. He was an active member of the LDS Church and had served in the California Mission and the Independence, Missouri Mission. He had served in the Bishopric and on the High Council. He had been a teacher in Davis County schools for 10 years and worked as a manager for United Air Lines for 31 years, in Ogden, Boise and Gooding, Idaho. He retired in 1972.
