She worked in a Farmington beauty salon for many years. Ms. Schultz lives in Hess Farm in Kaysville but Farmington residents have claimed her as a native. Center makes learning fun RUTH MALAN Lakeside Review correspondent KAYSVILLE More opportu- - nities for childrens development are available with the opening of the World of Discovery Children's Center in the old Mountain Bell office at 669 S. Fort Lane in Layton. The Rainbow Preschool, formerly of Kaysville, will occupy the facility during school hours with dance, music and art being taught in the afternoons and on Saturdays. Cherie Goodliffe, director of the ; new center, began her preschool ; in her home eight years ago with an enrollment of 24 children. her school was filled a year in advance she felt a need for expansion. The new school has the capacity for 150 children. I feel there is a need in the ar- Be-cau- se ea for a good preschool that prepares children for kindergarten, said Ms. Goodliffe. Ms. Goodliffe, a child psychology and early childhood development major, has two basic goals for her students: To develop and confidence and to develop a love for learning. She makes learning fun and gives children lots of things to succeed at. According to the school director, there are two types of preschools: social and academic. Her school incorporates both types. The schools curriculum includes an introduction to phonics through games and play, science projects where students study dinosaurs, weather and its causes, how colors are made and domestic and wild animals. The City Council approved a rezone request for property located at about 900 S. Main to allow for commercial development. . The property is on the east side of Main Street with boundaries on the north supplied by Holmes Creek and on the south by the boundaries. The land had been zoned to allow for agricultural use but all the nearby property is zoned for commercial development. The Layton-Kaysvil- through simple math problems.
