The Roy Elks will provide the time capsule monument, which will be permanently set by the flag pole, while the Historical Foundation will be in charge of collecting the items to be en- ROY The Roy Historical Foundation, in conjunction with the Roy Elks, is sponsoring a time capsule as part of the citys 50th anniversary. Roy Councilman Dale Willis said the time capsule, to be shared by the foundation and Roy Elks Lodge BPOE 2338, will be filled Saturday, Sept. 19, at 10 a.m. near the Roy City Municipal Buildings flag pole. Willis said the September date was chosen because it is the weekend the United States will 50-ye- ar closed. We are asking organizations and groups to donate items and prepare a brief document for the capsule, Willis said. However, the space will be limited and organizations are urged to present a small item representing their group. This will be a wonderful opportunity to showcase your organization and to become a part of the history of Roy, Willis said. Lakeside Review Counciimen upset over jail meeting JO-AN- CALLAHAN Lakeside Review edrrespondent The hanFARMINGTON committee a meeting dling of jail Aug. 10 brought sharp criticism from several City Council members at their meeting Aug. 13. I was not invited until 6:55 p.m. when the meeting started at 7 p.m., said Councilman Don White. Nor was I informed by correspondence as some members of the council, were. As I am a representative of the City Council on the committee I should have been there. The committee is working on proposals for location of a county jail in the Farmington area. Farmington organized its own jail committee after an outpouring of protests by residents when the a proposal was made by the county to locate a new jail in downtown Farmington. The committee, made up of Farmington residents, is to be a committee and the results are to be presented to the residents so they can be better informed on the jail issue. Mayor Bob Arbuckle told the council that some people had been invited to the recent meeting and some had not. The profile will debut on Wednesday, Aug. 19, during KOOGs Prime Time Movie The Tender Warrior. The movie starring Dan Haggerty starts at 7 p.m. The Home Town Salute profile will be repeated during KOOG programming during August. KOOG chose Roy as a subject for a Home Town Salute because the Weber County community is a leader in both industrial and residential areas, according to KOOG officials. The citys industry has grown considerably with the IOMEGA Corp. and the Roy Marketplace Plaza. Residential areas have increased 7 percent per year since g 1980, making Roy the in Weber community County. Roy has a population of 25,000 people, celebrating the fastest-growin- citys 50th year. KOOG can be seen by most northern Utah residents on Channel 30. Cable suscribers can see KOOG on Channel 24 on TCI Systems in Davis and Weber County, Channel 16 on Insight Cable in Davis County. Layton graduate gets commission M. Tolle, son of Anthony Bruce and Sandie Tolle of Newark, Ohio, has graduated from the United States Naval Academy, Annapolis, Md., and was commissioned a second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force. Tolle is a 1983 graduate of Layton High School.
