Craven Review columnist If you were told that you could assure that you wouldnt get decay in your teeth for a couple of dollars per tooth, would you listen? If you were told that you could literally seal the tooth up against decay would you listen? If you could save hundreds, even thousands of dollars just by having your children submit to a painless, quick and inexpensive application of plastic to their teeth, would you do it? I would imagine so, and yet this magic preventive measure in dentistry goes unheeded by millions of parents and their children CLEARFIELD Winners of the 1986 Clearfield Junior Miss Scholarship Pageant and Little Mister and Little Miss Clearfield contests have been announced. The pageant, held April 12 in the Clearfield High School auditorium, was sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Clearfield and the Clearfield Chamber of Commerce. Tami Stanger was crowned Clearfield Junior Miss. She will compete in the state Junior Miss competition scheduled in March, 1987. The state winner will represent Utah in the America Junior Miss National Finals in Mobile, Ala. Tami is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Stanger, 195 E. South Weber Drive in South Weber. She also won the pageant talent award. For her talent she performed a jazz dance. As we noticed our friends distress, we suggested it might be interesting to disappear from sight and then quietly peek to see what would happen. It is easier to understand your childs frustration when you picture yourself in a foreign country, knowing what you need or where you want to go, but being unable to read directions or ask them of anyone because of the language differences. Thus the young child must exhibit in a physical sense what his or her needs are. However, though tantrums themselves are understandable, they are unacceptable behavior, and we need to teach our children that. When parents respond to the childs demands at the time of the tantrum, they are inadvertantly encouraging that behavior. The best approach is to ignore the tantrum. Go to another room.
