Kent Smith Archie Kent Smith, 53, of 350 West 2200 North, died Sunday, January 5, 1986, at his home of cancer. He was born December 31, 1932, in Ogden, a son of Archie and Mary Jane Smith. On January 16, 1952, he married JoAnn Lovell in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were later divorced. He Karen Butters Hendricks March 20, 1985, in the Ogden LDS married Temple. He had been a general contractor and owner of the Kent Smith Construction Co. He was a member of the LDS Sunset 1st Ward where he had formerly served as the elders quorum president, as bishop of the ward, teacher in the Aaronic Priesthood, Melchezidek Priesthood and Sunday School and had supported a number of LDS missionaries on their church missions. He had served as president of the Sunset Lion's Club, and was the donor of a yearly Kent Smith Construction Scholarship for Morgan High School. He was a member of the Century Club of the Boy Scouts of America; a member of the Golf and Country Club and had sponsored and actively participated in numerous sporting events. He had lived in Morgan and Mountain Green prior to moving to Sunset. Surviving are his widow of Sunset, seven sons, Gregory W. Smith, Mountain Green; Rodger A. Smith, Bret T. Smith, both of Clearfield; Stuart A. Smith, Bart K. Smith, Kirk L. Smith, all of Layton; Matt M. Smith, St. George; a daughter Suzanne Smith, Mountain Green; two stepdaughters, Dana Archibald, and Tori Thurston, both of Lay-to19 four grandchildren; his mother of Morgan. Also surviving are five brothers, Lyle W. Smith, Milton; Vaughn L. Smith, Gordon K. Smith, both of Morgan; Paul V. Smith, Sandy; Lorin K. Green, CLEARFIELD 24, of 520 Maple St., died Friday, Jan. 10, 1986, of injuries sustained from a gunshot wound. He was born June 26, 1961, in Ogden, a son of Ralph J. and Mary Penman Green. He had been a plant operator for Weber Basin. At the time of his death he was employed with Saunders Construction. Surviving are his parents of Clearfield, one brothe and two sisters, Ronald J. Green, Roy; LouAnn Young, Vernal; Patricia Hancock, West Weber. Also surviving are his grandparents, Ether Penman and Bertha Penman, both of West Weber. Funeral services will be held today at 11 a.m. at Lindquist's Clearfield Mortuary, 1050 S. State, with Bishop Robert Speirs of the Clearfield 5th LDS Ward officiating.
