City Doesnt Like Pump Gate Must Try Better Sewer Plan Hill LAYTON Developers of Hill Gate Terrace received approval to add 167 units but were told by the city council they will have to come back for further consideration if they cannot find an alternative to using a pump station to move sewage out of the area. Tom Maybe, who represented the developers, asked for permission to put in a pump station which would pump the sewage from the south end of the development up the hill to connections near Highway 193 where it would come into the citys sewer system. In privately owned develop- ments, such as mobile home parks, the responsibilities of water and sewer and other hookups are those of the park owners, not of the city, which led councilwoman Ann Harris to question the use of a pumping station. She said she was concerned about the possibility that owners in the park might have sewage COLOR COORDINATING ENSEMBLES ADUT (ANNOUNCEMENTS IPAPER PLATES VCAKE SERVERS e GUEST BOOKS STREAMERS GUEST SAVORS idill IJiMMlV ALBUMS BELLS GARTERS W Cruises Hotels Tours SUNSET ZEPHYR BLDG. Maybe said if a park owner didnt maintain his property the people would move. Yes, and that would leave us with a slum area on our hands; Mrs. Harris said. Laytons engineering staff had recommended that a pump station not be allowed at the site because of anticipated problems, but both Maybe and another representative of the developers, Mark Walquist, said they have seen many pump stations work successfully in other areas. They said they had been trying to get easements to the south and west of Hill Gate to allow them to use a gravity sewer system which was recommended by the city but had been unsuccessful in getting the easements from property owners. They agreed they would return to the council if they had no alternative but to install a pump station .
