Show B THE PAYSON CHRONICIE Thursday, July 16, 1970 Sidewinders form club four-whe- el The first meeting of the Utah Sideel drive winders, a newly formed club was held last Saturday evening. Many new friends were made and new ideas for equipping and maintaining the vehicles were swapped. The name of the club and a suitable design for a decal was agreed upon by those present. An order for the decal is being made and is expected by those in charge to be submitted for final approval of club members at the next meeting. Application forms were signed by prospective members and it was decided to encourage more participation by families owning four wheel drive vehicles in the Central Utah area. Any make of vehicle is acceptable, but it must conform to state standards of licensing and inspecmanners tion. A list of and some suggested rules for caravan travel was well accepted by the members. The next meeting will be combined with family participation in an excursion and a picnic near Springville, on August 1st. el Prospective members who own drive vehicles are invited to make an inquiry about the next meeting and picnic by contacting one of the members now displaying a poster on their vehicle, el or by contacting one of the drive dealers in the Central Utah area. Local Soil Conservation Districts support National Farm Safety Week which President Nixon has designated as the week of July 19, 1970. Recent statistics show that the number of accidental deaths in agriculture is second only to that of the construction industry. This is a tragic record. President Nixon has asked all farm families, .and every person and group allied with agriculture, to make every effort permanently to reduce the number of accidents which occur at work, in home, at recreation, and on the roadways. The efficiency of American agriculture and the quality of life for agricultural workers is threatened today by the continued high rate of farm accidents. Many thousands of farm residents lose their lives or are seriously injured in accidents every year. Both the human and the financial costs of these accidents are intolerable. A quarter century of experience in organizing for rural safety has shown that most farm accidents could be prevented through sensible practices and protective devices. Safety information and mechanical safeguards are readily available and their constant use should be actively encouraged. We as members of the Nebo Soil Conservation District wish to lend our support Lee Staheli, of Payson, won third place in the open stock horse class at the International All Arabian Jubilee held at Feler, Idaho. He was riding VVisaad, owned and trained by Lee, who also trains for Whitmore Arabians of Salt Lake City, Utah. Thats a Fact years ago Mark Twain was editor of a small town newspaper. One day he received a letter from one of his readers saying that he had found a spider in his copy of the paper, and wanted to know if this was an omen of good or bad luck. Mark Twain answered, Finding a spider in your paper is neither good luck or bad luck. The spider was merely looking over our paper to see which merchant was not advertising so he could go to that store, spin his web across the door and lead a life of undisturbed peace Many ever afterward.
