In if THE PAYSON CHRONICLE B Thursday, May 7, 1970 Angelia Kenison attends congress An excellent fair featuring the industrial arts, art, homemaking, baby tending crafts and science displays were recently shown at the Payson Junior High School under the direction of Vernon Finch, principal; Harold Hawker, science; Lee Hill, industrial arts; Mrs. Jerolyn Garner, home economics; Mrs. Dorothy Toon of the art department; and Clinton Dansie, public relations. The fair was held in conjunction with the PTA president, Carl Marvin. It proved to be a most opportune time for all of the curriculum to mediate. It proved to be fascinating World Day for both faculty and students. Some of the comments from the sue- cessful venture were: In Homemaking the display featured the many activities of the Girl. Appropriate table settings, delicious food and proper nutrition were illustrated in charts and pictures. Creative talents were displayed in a colorful variety of clothes made by the girls. The All- - Amferican Girl is a girl who serves. Very fine display. Great initiative and effort by the students and faculty concerned. I hope we can have the entire school represented each year like we did this year. Everything really looked nice and a great deal of talent was shown. Your fair was an excellent display. The quality of workmanship and genious shown was wonderful. The display was very good and something a Junior High School should be commended for. The quality of the workmanship and engenuity involved in the projects was something to be proud of. This was an opportunity to share and gain pride in a job well done. rrurr NASA-NST- A 0, on the Hawaiian Is- lands, sponsored by the NASA Pasadena Office, Pasadena, California. She and fellow students from Arizona, Hawaii participated in a nine-da- y program of travel and took part in seminars and discussions with members of the Hawaiian Academy of Science. The selection of participants was made on the basis of a scientific abstract submitted by applicants describing experimental research. The abstract was a concise summary of a problem, the procedures used to evaluate it, and an interpretation of the results obtained. The winning papers were selected by scientists from Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, California. During the meeting, those selected were responsible for making an oral presentation of the research and defending it before a panel of evaluators selected from the Hawaii Academy of Science, teachers, and fellow participants in Honolulu. This winners paper is titled A General Equation for ja. Her teacher is Mr. Joel M. Johnson. i Gary Evans and Kevin Olsen who both won their Duty to God Awards at a recent Sacrement Service. Kevin is the third son of the Olsens to have won the award. i Gary Evans (left) and Kevin Olsen (right) received their Duty to God Award recently at their Sacrament meeting in the Second Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints. Gary and Kevin are members of the Junior Class at the "Payson High School and have both advanced in their membership in the primary and the priesthood of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints. Bishop and Mrs. Bernell Evans are the parents of Gary and Mr. and Mrs. C. Garth Olson are parents of Kevin. On Thursday, April 29, the Showtown citizens elected Sid Hansen as Mayor with Vickie Jarvis, Sheep representative, Jerry Lee Shepherd, hog representative and Allen Partridge as dairy representative. CHAMPIONS CHOSEN The grand champion fat hog, a duroc, was exhibited by Kevin Baadsgaard as FFA member from Lake Shore. The reserve champion, a duroc, was exhibited Springville. Hog by Laura Phillips, fitting and showmanship was won by Rodney Miller of Goshen. The Grand Champion Fat Beef, a Hereford Steer, was exhibited by Kim Hansen, Benjamin. The Reserve champion was a Hereford steer exhibited by Marthanne 4-- H, 4-- Larsen, 4-- Benjamin. Beef fitting and showmanship was won by Clark Caras, Benjamin, for those under 14 and Jeffrey Banks of Palmyra won for over Grand champion Fat Beef, H. Eugene Hansen and Donna Hansen parents of Exhibitor Kim Hansen. Ted Creer produced stock, buyer was Ron Norton for Norton Food Center, Provo, 3rd from left. 14.
