The Clerks tentative notes of the meeting held Monday, February 8, copies of which were furnished the Superintendent and mailed to all Board members on February 16, were approved as the official minutes of the meeting on a motion by Alfonzo Kester, seconded by Raymond C. E. and English Art on the high school level The Superintendent presented a letter from Theron Garrard, Secretary Manager of the Utah State Fair, requesting that the Board consider making it possible for the students of the District to attend the State Fair next September. The Board instructed the Superintendent to write Mr. Garrard and inform him that it would be unwise to include two days in the school calendar next year because it was felt that because of distance and other factors the Utah State Fair program did not fit into the educational program of the District. Stansfield Superintendent reported that Mayor Albert Peterson of Salem City was proposing to close the street on the east side of the Salem School and that the Salem City Council was interested in helping to develop the roadway and the adjacent site into a permanent playground. The Superintendent reported that if the Board would provide the water pipe, lawn seed, and materials for backstops, the City of Salem would prepare the ground install the backstops and the watering system and plant the lawns and help maintain the grounds. A motion was made by Leo A. Crandall, seconded by Dr. Wiliam H.
