Ron Amos wins Sports award for fourth year Ron Amos, formerly of Pay-so- n and now sports editor of the Las Vegas, Nev., Review Journal, has been elected Sportswriter of the Year, in Nevada for the fourth consecutive year, the National Sports-castand Sportswriter Association has announced. The award, for 1954, follows consecutive wins for 1961, 1952, and 1963. Amos, son of Mr. and Mrs. Spence Amos, Payson, will fly to Salisbury, N. C., NSSA headquarters, for the national at which awards April time he will be presented his award personally by Gov. Dan Moore of North Carolina. Each year accredited and sportscasters elect a winner in each category in their own state, plus a national winner in each division. Amos, has been Review-Journsports editor for over four years during which time he and his staff have given Southern Nevada residents the most extensive sports coverage both locally and nationally in the states history. President Lou Hansen of the Mt. Nebo Wildlife Federation has called a membership meeting to be held in the Payson City Council chambers at 8 p.m. on Monday, March 29. Purpose of the meeting is to arrange for interested members to participate in the annual spring range rides. These rides are held each year to estimate the number of big game animals on the range and also to check the condition of the ange. A report will also be given by two representatives of the federation on the Utah County Wildlife meeting which was held March 18. At that meeting information was given re- garding the Central Utah Project and its effect on wildlife and water conditions. Heart Fund Drive Tel's $414.25 During the Heart Fund drive in February, $414.25 was contributed in Payson, according to Mrs. J. D. Christensen, fund drive chairman. Mrs. Christensen expressed her appreciation to all workers who assisted her with the drive and to those who contributed to this worthwhile project, The amount collected this year, she said, was a good showing for Payson. Fourth Ward to hold Benefit Banquet Payson Fourth Ward will sponsor a building fund banquet this week. The banquet will bo held Friday night, March 16, in the Fourth Ward church. Scheduled to begin at 7:30 o.m., it will be held in the South Court Room of the City and County Building in Provo. He is president of the First National Bank of Logan, member of the board of trustees of Utah State University, land director of the Logan Home Building Society and of the Bear River Mutual Fire Insurance Company. He has played an important role in the business and agriculture development of Northern Utah. Elder Thomas is a former seminary instructor and is now employed by the Presidency Bishoprics Office. He served as a missionary in the Netherlands as a young man.
