Show Mdlard County Chronicle Progress Millard High School May 10 2001 Pane 7 Reporter - JaNae Christensen Thanks to local EMT’s The dedication of being an EMT is something you can’t learn it’s a part of your nature it’s a persons fundamental characteristic For 10 years Fran Irvine has selflessly answered the call to serve as an Emergency Medical Technician In the dead of night hohdajs and inclement weather and at the risk of her own personal safety she has responded to medical emergencies in Millard County Even though EMT’s receive compensation for the time spent actually responding in the case of Fran she has volunteered thousands of hours of on call time Fran's comt munity spirit deserves the miration from each of use both resident and passerby have benefitted from Fran's participation in the Emergency Medical System We trust that the sound of our thanks and appreciation are echoed by the many you’ve served Best wishes from your friends the East Millard Ambulance Team MHS Boys Track Team Students win high marks at Solo & Ensemble Mr McKay Shields took his Chamber Choir the Girls Small Ensemble and three soloists to State Solo and Ensemble competition at T impanogos High in Orem on Saturday Apnl 28 2001 where they all rated high scores Meeting were A through 5A schools from the State This is the first year in many years that Millard High has gone to State competition Mr Shields is in his third year at Millard and his students are enthusiastic about him says Cody Ottley Ottley one of the students with the Chamber Choir and former Mayor of the Youth City Council reported the marks achieved by the groups and soloists With being the highest score given the results of the Mrllard High group were Soloist Emily Speak man brought home a grade of - for her performance of “I walked in God’s Garden" Male soloist Aaron Shields received a 2 on his French rendition of "Oh Divine Redeemer" Amanda Day Piano Soloist did a stellar performance of ‘Pour la Piano’ Girls Small Enssemble won a their “Gloria Hallelujah" Chamber Choir with about 30 students earned a 2 for “Now is the Month of Maying” and “Blossom" About 300 female soloists and 300 male soloists competed Ottley said the Solo and Ensemble is the first of several events coming up in the near future The next one to be performed is the Spring Concert which will be presented on May 92001 at 7 30 p m in the Millard High School Auditorium Performing at this concert will be the Millard Majestic Choir Millard High School Band anJ Millard High School Orchestra Admission is free and Ottley promises that this concert will be worthy of a packed house Softball As the season winds down the Millard Eagles softball has continued to fight hard Last week the ladies had a double header with Kanab and won both games They had their first playoff game on Saturday in Murray against Monticello Millard In the second game on Saturwon day the Lady Eagles lost to Juan Diego to bracket where they drop into the have to battle back through They will in play Parowan on Friday May other state playoff game It will begin at 00 a m in Murray Good luck ladies Take state' MHS Graduation Information Plans are underway for MHS graduation to be held on Tuesday May 22 at 8 p m in the MHS aud'torium Seniors are reminded that they must attend all three practices in order to go through the graduation ceremony on May 22 Parents please make sure your senior is to all three practices Practices are Thursday May 17 at 8 a m Monday May 21 at 40 a m and Tuesday May 22 at 8 a m The annual Senior Awaids assembly will be held on Wednesday May 16 at 7 p m in the auditorium Any senior who has received a scholarship or award will be honored that MHS Girls Track Team night Spring Concert at MHS Millard High School music department will present their Spring Concert on May 9 30 pm in the auditorium Millard Majestic the MHS band and the MHS orchestra will perform Everyone is invited to enjoy an evening of music and song as the music department under the direction of Mr McKay Shields and Mr Ed Crowe performs their lPfP4l concert of th?
