Gae Whatcott Chantel Smith at the Department of Workforce “I ing a training for Can vices Not included in photo: Mrs Stacy Anderson tutors These fine women have shared enthusiasm for Reading with their students all year long We appreciate their positive attitudes and consistent service We take our hats off and salute them for their excellent service to our students out her favorite book so she can read the entire day Books like Organizational Skills oman How to Bait for the W orking Clean and Cook Your Man’s Catch or Parenting Problems Personified don't It has to be fluff Something that count takes no brain power and has a happy ending She'll love you for it Keep those pages turning cassettes rolling and videos reeling Marian Fillmore Elementary School “When the cat’s away the mice will play” FE Hosting Pixels Show & Illusions Art Pixels and Illusions is the title of the Utah Arts Council traveling exhibition that will shown in the Media Center of the Fillmore Elementary School from May 1st until June 4th 1 he images in this exhibition wcic produced by art students at the University of Utah Art Department The courses in digital art are an opportunity for personal exploration and diseov cry in the new technology of digital photography Students collected resource images using a state of the ate Kodak 2(X) digital system After filling the camera with fifty images it was downloaded into Art Department Macintosh computers Students combined and modified their pictures in the computer using Adobe Photoshop image editing program to arrive at the prmts in the show No photographic film paper or chemicals were used in their production The public is encouraged to view this art show be Word Whiz Party 3 With Mr Bassett in New Orleans Louisiana at the National Reading Conference here at Delta North Elementary we followed the old cliche “when the cat’s away the mice will play" We didn’t just play we had a PARTY a Word Whiz Party that is students attended our third party of the year A party ticket was given to each student after having five Word Whiz lists each list within four minutes in the auditorium The party was held Thursday May 3 at Our very first kindergartner Jace Nelson was able to attend Mrs Lisonbee had just finished telling the older students about Jace’s passing off all 200 words (which is an amazing accomplishment for one so young) when he walked into the auditorium It was perfect students stood and applauded him We enjoyed games a timing because all good story and of course we had mice treats Our thanks go to TitlcI - Now we’re getting to the poinU What does T rug Lands do for our children? This year DNES began the Word Whiz Club This has been a fun and challenging activity for all grade levels The purpose of the club is to be able to read 1200 of the most frequently used words in the English language There are five different ligs that progressively get more difficult Each hg consists of 240 words When students are able to read the lists within four minutes they bring the signed slip back to school and pass the ligs off to either Mr Bassett or Mrs Lisonbee By participating in the Word the Whiz Club students leant to recognize the words automatically so that when they see them in text they will be able to read them With incentives like bookmarks names on the Word Whiz Wall root beer floats and PARTIES we have had an incredible 86°4 student participation in the Fust -Fifth Grades We even had Jace Nelson a Kindergartner join in the fun at our May Word Whiz Party We want to 3 give him a special cheer!
