7 30 followed by a dance until 9 at the Pleasant Grove LDS Stake Center 275 East 50 South Pleasant Grove UT No invitations sent locally will be sent locally all friends and relatives are invited Great Basin Heritage Area by Sindy McMichaet As a keeper of the past the museum has recently received the gift of the homestead home of Benjamin Franklin and Mary Francetta (Cook) Sampson Family The reconstruction of the log cabin on the museum's back lot began several years ago The finishing touches to the cabin and most of the decorating were completed and the dedication of the cabin witnessed by about 82 decedents and 5 museum staff members occurred on April 14 with the presentation of the deed of gift presented by Merlin Sampson and accepted by Charlotte Morrison Director of the Great Basin Histoncal Society and Museum Merlin the youngest son and the next to the youngest child has overseen the project After the dedication he arranged for several family members to move the Malleable Stewart wood stove that was m the museum to the cabin It is the same style of stove that his parents had used in the cabin He is in hopes of adding a bed to the furnishings in the near future One of the stones about the cabin is that it was a fore runner to the mobile home The family had trouble getting the kids into Delta for school so they had attached 8 to 9 teams of horses to the cabin and dragged it into Delta for the winter then dragged it back to south tract in the spnng to plant their fields Currently on display are photos of wild horses taken by Charlotte and Dennis Leavitt They had started spending about two weekends a month out on the desert with a video camera to film wild horses The video didn't work as well as they had hoped so in 999 they purchased a 35 mm camera and have been snapping pictures ever since The mustang stud who had been found shot in the picture they had taken of the desert appeared with the story in the Chronicle Progress dated September 30 1999 Charlotte and Dennis’ photos will be on display for a while They do offer their photos for sale either framed or not Be sure to stop and see their wonderful “art” work as well as the Sampson cabin The museum is opened Monday through Saturday 10 am to 4 pm Wesley Max and Ten Nichols of Layton Utah arc pleased to announce the marriage of their daughter Megan Ten to Weslyn John Wnght son of John and Rachel Wright of Oak City They will be married in the Manti LDS Temple on Saturday May 19 2001 A reception will be held in their honor that evening at the Oak City Town Hall from 7 to 9 p m program following Everyone is cordially invited to attend They will be making their home in Logan UT where they will be continuing their education in the fall Joseph and Carol Broadbent of Evanston Wyoming are pleased to announce the mam age of their daughter Loma Jayne Emma to Loyal Bartholomew Adams son of Loyal B and Toma Adams of Scipio Utah on May 4 200 in the Logan Temple An Open House and Dance was held on Friday May 4 2001 at Sherwood Hills 30 p m After a Honeymoon Country Club & Resort in Sardine Canyon from 8 Cruise a reception for the newlyweds will be held in the Scipio Ward Cultural Hall on 30 p m Saturday May 12 2001 6 Loma is a 1996 graduate ofEvanston High School and a 2000 graduate of Utah State University with a Degree in Family and Human Development Bart is a 993 graduate of Millard High School and a 1997 graduate of Colorado School of Mines with a Degree in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Loma is currently an administrator at Williamsburg Retirement Community in Logan and Bart is owner of NoonRock Software Inc The happy couple will reside in Logan Utah All friends and family are cordially invited to attend the festivties Great Basin Historical Society and Museum and Nichols and Wright Adams Foster -
